how does it work? if its based off a hidden xmitter in the car somewhere i dont think uit'll be that effective since lojack and the alpine use the same kind of stuff? the theives will most probably strip it down and find the xmitters and dispose of them in a short amt of time. ur best bet is to lay down a mat of plastic, and buy 2 dobermans or puitbulls
The way these systems work is that they are activated by your alarm or whatever switch you want to use. You can even have it activated by someone tampering with your stereo.
So when the unit gets a signal from say, the alarm getting set off, it will use the skytel pager network to page your account, which will then notify you usually by calling or even by email to let you know your alarm has gone off.
Additional features include a web account where you login and can track your car from the web. What happens is that the skytel network will "page" the unit in your car, which will then use GPS to find out where the car is located and then page back the coordinates to skytel which then displays the location on a map on your computer.
You have to pay a monthly fee though, which starts as low as 20 a month (I think) and goes up to 100 a month depending on how many times you communicate with the unit in your car (or it communicates with you). I think it's called Page Track 2, and it's made by motorola...
