Default Auto Launching Confusion + Newb Help

ive read a lot of different ways to launch with an auto tranny, and i dont mean varying rpms to launch at; i mean just off the wall different ways. im not all that big into drag (more of an autocrosser cause my car sucks) and i thought that an answer to this post would help out some of the newcomers as well as clear up my mind. thx

Foot on brake, foot on gas and wait for light and let go (of the brake when the rpm's are where you want).
Not trying to be a dick, I also had an auto way back when.
And your avatar is a "ricers exhaust blowing out NAWZZZ yO".
Hope that helps.
