Default H22 or H23 trany

I need to know which is better for a JDM h22 motor , i can get the motor with out the trany for $1400 canadian from the local engine importers and thats with 26 thousand miles on the motor.

Now here is my problem i can use the old H23 trany but have long gears or use the h22 trany witch adds about $600 to the over all cost of the engine.

what is better an H22 or H23 trany on a JDM h22 motor ? dose it warent $600 extra to the cost.

Only mature answers please .

In all honesty I'd shell out anothe $600 for the H22 tranny. In my opinion th egearing is going to be more compatible in that the gear ratios will work with the powerband of your new motor(ie VTEC).Whereas the H23 tranny was designed for a non-VTEC engine and therefore could prove dissappointing in that it might not respond with your motor like it should. This is just an opinion,it's what I'd do if my H23 went for a sh*t.

how much money do you have to spend?

honestly, unless you just have the money sitting around to blow, I'd just keep your H23 tranny, as long as it's in good condition.
