LS/Vtec in 93 Teg LS ECU ???'s
Added a ITR head to my b18b Teg. Using a P28 with a homemade chip from a pretty reputable programmer. After starting the car, the check engine light comes on. When you jump the self-diagnostic harness, the light doesnt flash. In the service manual for that car, 0 flashes indicates ECU problem. Is there something I did'nt do in this vtec swap? I'm using a V-AFC to control the Vtec. Also, when you hit 4000 rpm, the car bogs out real bad. With the stock PR4 ECU, the car runs okay with narrow throttle, but high wide throttle, it bogs out at 5500 where the vtec is set to engage. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
What did the ecu come out of? and are you sure that the ecu was good before you got it? Was the ecu ever used after you chipped it? and obviously.. sure you allready did this but check all your connections and setting in the VAFC...
The guy that programmed the ecu said he tried it in his car before I got it. It's a P28 (92-95 civic). I soldered all the connections with the V-AFC so I know there good. One other problem. Before swapping the head, my Autometer AFR gauge worked. Now it does'nt. I swapped the O2 sensor, checked connections. The only time it works is when the starter is cranking. The dial stays around the stoich level, but then goes off. Here's a list of mods before and after the swap. The block was built in February and the car ran fine (other than way too lean) before tearing it down.
Block built in February:
11.8CR Endyn pistons
Eagle rods
ACL bearings
slight bore on the block to clean it up
Vtec head:
ITR ported, polished
Skunk2 stage 2 cams
Skunk2 dual springs
Skunk2 retainers
Ferrera intake valves
Ericks racing 68mm throttle body
Ericks racing A-FPR
AEM fuel rail (stock injectors)
Skunk2 intake manifold
BBk 250 fuel pump
Apexi V-AFC
P28 chipped
I'm not sure about the MAP sensor. We had to do something to make it work. My friend that helped me with the install did the map sensor, so I don't know what he did.

the brown from the v-afc close to the ecu, and the black is about 2 inches back on the same wire?? That's the way I did it.
I tried a different chipped P28 today and didn't get the 0 code. Another thing that didn't happen is this:
With my ecu, when you turn the key on without starting, after the fuel pump stops, the idle air control valve buzzes.
With the other ecu, that does not happen. I can't decide now if the ecu is screwed up, or the chip is doing it. I'm getting some different eeprom chips tomorrow to try in my ecu to see if that solves it.
