Good Home Theater System

I've been wanting to get a home theater, but I don't know which are good. I went to Best Buy and saw the Bose system. It caught my attention and I really liked it. None of the other systems they had their compared to it.
I started looking online, but really couldn't find anything also. I saw a Nakamichi home theater system and it looked good. I have one of their head units so i figured they might be a good brand to look at also.
Any help or suggestions would be nice. The limit would probaly be $1500.
Here is a pic of the Nakamichi Sound Space 10 Home Theater System.

Bose has great name/brand presence.....and it does the job.
Now if you want to something different look to
your fellow statemen in Lawrence Ks.....Martin Logan
Look into the mosaic/fresco/and grotto lines.
you may be surprised.....think of it as "Logan Lite"
The well known Logan sound and style on a beer budget.

Are you looking at the Lifestyle systems? I think their designs are nice-compact, clean and contemporary looking, but their subs suck. Go into a Bose store and look at their display where they have their sub in a clear plexiglass enclosure. They use a 6" woofer. I don't think you'll get a nice deep sounding bass from that thing.
I prefer to just buy components individually then buying "packaged" sets like that. Usually one of the components are kinda crappy. (unless you spend some pretty good $$)

That the problem with opinions like that...hell a lot of companies wish they
had the name recognition of BOSE...The product sell itself. And for what it does
it works well. Amir did a hella lot of research and was smart enough to put it
to good use. As for the lack of bass response with a 6" driver....take a 6" woofer
get a length of pvc and put them together and play music at a moderate
volume and be amazed. its the same princlpe that they use. or better yet ask
them to play "hippo in my bathtub" them comment on lack of bass.

yes...listen to everyone here....anything but bose. Theres quite a few people who are into home theater systems and know what is and isn't good.

bose
try listening to the bose system with the speakers disconnected so its just the sub playing. Listen carefully for vocals coming from the sub.
The bose jewel cubes also have a terrible frequency response. i believe the lowest they go is approx 280hz. that leaves a lot of ground for the sub to try and make up.
You could also wait and save up a little more money then get much better equipment.

Honestly there are way too many choices now for
"hottubs" or Home theater in a box. Bose make a wonderful
product ( plus thats the most Hi end audio that the avg
person is exposed too anyway) You have to ask yourself
a few "lifestyle" questions and base your selection on those
answers.
1. Will it hande all dvd audio formats Dolby Digital,DTS,Dolby II
DTS EX,Dolby ES...etc?
2.Does it take adavantage of TV tech upgrades ie component video
output?
3.Does it have the ability to take advantage of Multi Channel audio
advancements ( DVD Audio, SACD ( super audio cd) )?
4.Does it offer flexability of inputs ( ie vcr, cable, camcorder)
5. Can this system grow with me ?
These are all very good questions to ask yourself. Depending on your answers
you may want to get an audio video reciever, add a dvd player and seperate
speakers ( the 5.1 or even 6.1 and 7.1 ) or you may just be happy with a hot
tub. Do the research...spend a few bucks on a mag ie Sound and Vision
Home Theater etc....anything to help you make the best choice for you.
