HOLY ****, I think my car was gonna be stolen last night!
Ok, I've left my car parked out on my driveway in front of my garage since last Thursday because I've been stuck home helping my mom with some family issues. I felt like I lived in a good neighborhood, so I never really thought much about leaving it outside for the world to see.
Anyway, last night, after reading arizsun21's post, and remembering about my friends Si that got stolen in East Lansing (about 10 miles from me), I decided on a whim to move my car in the garage. I hadn't done this earlier cuz it involved some cleaning and moving around of stuff. So I put my car inside at about 10pm.
Fast forward a few hours. I head to bed, and open my window facing the driveway cuz its warm in my room. I crawl into bed at about 1:30 or so (didn't look at the clock). I'm falling asleep, and I hear a diesel truck slowly rumble by, I look at the clock 1:41am. I'm like wtf. I hear what I thought was people talking, and I get up and I see a flatbed idling infront of my house!!! They sit there for a few seconds, see my car isn't in the driveway (I guess) and drive off. *phew*
Now tell me, wtf is a flatbed doing driving by my house in a nice neighborhood at 1:40am??? I dunno, but I think my car was about to be stolen. Time for increased security measures!!!

That really sucks. Like you said...increase security measures. Not much you can do about a tow truck, though. I'm also a member of the *almost* stolen camp. The thieves got my steering column apart, though. Good luck to you. BTW newgsrdriver...that sign is hilarious

Well congrats on not losing your car....isnt it weird when you sometimes get a gut feeling and it turns out really happen

damn now i realli gotta clear out my garage b4 saturday, when i get my GSR...hrm...well there is another GSR rite across the street from me....and it has been there for 2 years...well either way, gonna clean out the garage today!

nah, I couldn't see anything, it was way to dark and I was inside in my room. Oh well, I'll ask around, but I doubt anyone saw it, my neighborhood is quiet and not many people are up late. Oh, and to Chris.

lol an alarm in this situation would be useless considering they had a flatbed, also the fact that they were smart enough to use a tow truck shows that they are not newbies and im pretty sure they could easily bypass an alarm.

I still dunno how the hell they can tow your car? When i park my car i pull the ebrake all the way and put it in 1st. Wouldnt that make it nearly impossible?

yea close call... maybe it was just a tow truck looking for a broken down car that was called in and they were given unclear directions.. idk but ur case is mor than likeyl. good luck for the future...

Yea, I wouldn't jump the gun on that one. It may have been a tow truck looking for a real car (legitimate customer) but then again if that happened to me I'd be thinking the same thing you did. It's getting so bad I almost want to sell my teg.
I'm gonna do an alarm install soon and put in a mercury switch so when the car gets off balanced it will go off + page the pager. I then walk out with MaH 9 y0 and bUst sOme caPz
