URGENT: Alarm Keeps Going Off By Itself!!!!
Hey guys,
I really need you help on this one because I am stumped and is stressing me out
. First off, I'm going to give you guys some background info about what's been going on so you guys have the full story and see if you can help me out.
Friday, August 29, 2003:
I took my car in to get a Viper 650XV alarm in my accord and added the Digital Tilt / Motion Sensor, Siren w/ Rechargable Battery, Audio Sensor (which is the Glass Sensor), Trunk Release, and the original Viper siren accompanied by the factory car horn when the alarm is set off.
Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003:
First day of school. I park in a parking structure so all the sound from cars become resonated (louder). I didn't know what my sensors were set at. Obviously they were set really high because my alarm was going off after about 10 seconds of arming. Thus, I took my car back to the shop and had them adjusted.
Friday, Sept. 5, 2003:
I went over to a family friend's house in the evening and my car was parked outside. We were inside the house when my alarm started going off for no reason at all. It went off 2 times just by itself.
Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003:
Over at some family's house and my car was outside again. I was inside and then I hear my car alarm going off again for no reason. Went off 2 or 3 times total.
Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003:
Got fed up with my alarm constantly going off for no reason so I took my car back to the shop again to see if they can solve my problem. They adjust all the sensors and disabled the factory (stock) alarm because that could have been the cause of the false alarms as well.
Today, Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003:
Went to school and my alarm went off. I know because the system beeps a number of times to tell you what happened. In this case, it beeped 5 times meaning that NPC (nuisance prevention circuitry) was active, meaning that after a sensor has gone off 3 times in 60 minutes, it will be bypassed. I figured it was just cars with loud exhaust setting it off (which is fine with me).
However, today after i got home from school, I decided to park my car outside my house instead of in the garage. Well, first I parked it on the street. Sure enough, my alarm went off by itself for no reason. Then I moved it to the driveway but it never went off. Then I moved it back on the street and it went off again. (By the way, there were no cars driving by or anything. Just about a 5-10 mph breeze.)
Okay, now that you guys are all up to speed with my dilemma, what do you guys think is wrong with my alarm? What should I do? I am stumped beyond belief and very frustrated
. I am open to any, and I mean ANY, suggestions you guys might have.
sorry for the long post guys, and thanks in advance. any help is GREATLY appreciated.

What does the alarm diagnostics tell you.....the LED should blink a certain number of times in relation to what zone is being triggered. You can also start a process of elimination by disconnecting each sensor one by one to see which one is causing the problem.
when i disarm the car at school...it chirps 5 times...meaning that the nuisance prevention circuitry is active and bypassed on of the senors because it went off 3 times within 60 minutes.
as for when i was at home, it chipred 4 times...meaning that my car has been tampered with. i know that it was tampered with because i was physically watching my car until it went off.
yea i might have to try disconnecting each sensor one at a time to see which one is causing my problems. or i could just rip out the whole thing and ask for my money back

The number of chirps will not tell you what zone was triggered. You need to look at the LED upon disarming or through the diagnostic mode to determine the right zone. The 4 chirps only tell you that the alarm went off.
To enter the diagnostic mode, follow these steps:
1. With the ignition off, press and hold the Valet Switch.
2. While holding the Valet Switch, turn on the ignition.
3. Release the Valet Switch.
4. Within 5 seconds, press and release the Valet Switch.
The LED will blink in two groups indicating the last two triggered zones (i.e. blink 4 times and then 3 if those were the zones that were triggered). The LED will flash for 1 minute or until the ignition is turned off.

Do you happen to leave your cell phone or anything that makes noise in your car, your glass sensor can go off, by people driving by with loud car the shock can also get that. Turn your moiton sensor all the way down, u can do it yourself, use a screw driver it should be a black box like or a see thro box. Sound like the shop that installed it for you sucks.
Go with a Cliffort Avanagurd it has True Flase Alarm, if u alarms goes off 2 much, u can set it for only when the glass brakes or the door opens.

i leave nothing in my car. today i took it to the shop and they disabled each sensor one-by-one and parked my car near the street. when they got to the tilt/motion sensor, it went off. they just took it off and are giving me a refund because it'll probably give me problems for the rest of my life if i left it on.
the shop i go to isn't bad at all. they do many shows and stuff and their installs are pretty good. i've just had some bad luck this time. i've been there many times already for my stereo equipment and stuff.
hopefull this solves my problem now. i pick it up in about 15 minutes.

so did they fix the problem by eliminatiing the tilt/motion sensor??? and can i ask where you the alarm installed at ?? and i would also get a backup battery that is seperate from the backbattery-siren you already have

yea i got my alarm all squared away now. the tilt sensor was faulty and we just decided to rip it out because i don't have much use for it anyways (not yet). the alarm was installed at Paradyme Car Audio. i go there because i know most of the guys and i'm good friends with the manager

I had the same problem found out it was the cheap motion detector. Yep DEI 506t, which is a mercury type switch. Well whenever the temperature dropped it would set off my alarm. Try adjusting the motion detector.
Sounds like the one/some of your sensors are set to be too sensitive. I'm guessing it's like a shock sensor or a proximity sensor. I've seen some cars where you just walk by and the thing starts chirping. You should probably get this fixed as soon as possible, coz if you don't, someone may really be trying to steal your car, and every one will just think it's another false alarm and just ignore it. (like people do with every car) which makes having your alarm useless.

He probably had the 507t digital tilt/motion. This is a very good sensor. I have had no problems installing these. They should have just adjusted it correctly.
