Transmission Change
I own a 2000 Honda Accord SE and I need to change the transmission fluid. Is it true that there is no filter to change? I understand there is a drain plug, but I do not know where it is. Do you fill it back up through the dipstick opening or is there a fill plug? How much fluid will I need to fill it back up and how do I know when it is properly filled? Sorry for the numerous questions, but I can find no information on 2000 Honda Accords. Are the transmissions really as bad as I am hearing? I have almost 70,000 on mine with no problems. Thanks!
I'm guessing auto tranny. Well when you jack up the car and lay under it you'll see the bolt that you have to take off. It's to the right of the oil drain. It's not a normal bolt. It'll have a 1/2 inch drive slot that you have to stick your 1/2 wrench in. You won't be able to drain more than 3.5 quarts out. But it's better than nothing. Add fluid back on top where the dipstick goes. I love my tranny and haven't had any problems with it yet. 55000 miles and soon to be turboed.
it takes 2 and 2/3ds of a quart there is a bolt under the car that you just use a 3/8's ratchet and loosten it then refill through the dipstick .... ONLY use honda brand fluid or you will have problems ..... but then again if this is your first time changing the fluid and you got 70,000 miles i feel sorry for you your tranny is already in trouble you should change the fluis every 15,000 miles
