interesting little bike. R6 powerplant "tuned for midrange"... i wonder if it has fuel injection, and how big the tank really is.

from a feature standpoint it compares to the SV650S better than the bandit in my opinion. only difference is 2 cylinders vs 4 which is always a fun debate.

but you're right, depending on suspension setup/ adjustability, and cost, it might have been premature to consider it a 4 cylinder version of the SV. but thats the first bike i thought of when i saw this FZ6. i still think yamaha is going after the SV market and not the Bandit market with this thing.

all valid points. I'm glad there's another quality naked in the fold though. The Fz6 is a bit heavier than the 650, but no doubt it has better power, FI too. I wonder how much it will cost? If its sub $7k, it'd be a good deal i think

this is a quote from one of the guys on socalsvriders.com

the FZ6 only puts out 96hp and weighs what almost as much as a 1000cc v-twin weighs. they are going to have to lighten that thing up a bit. There is no reason for it to be THAT heavy. It is an in-line four and should be down in the 360-370lb range. They also have put the battery up under the tank which is going to raise the CG up higher and make the bike feel even heavier than it is

03' SVs also have fuel injection as well, so people shopping for one would likely consider the other, despite the different motor types.
