Default LS/vtec internal choice

I'm going to begin building my LS/vtec after I finish getting the motor out of the teg its in now, I'm just waiting to see if its damaged because the waterpump died and there was like half the coolant there should have been and I'm almost certain the head is warped but the motor still turns so we'll see what the extent of the damage is, either way I'm getting the motor for free . My question is on internals, originally I was thinking of throwing in a set of aftermarket high comp pistons and rods while I have the motor out and totally apart, but then it occured to me, that b18 rods are forged anyways and are quite strong, and I could save an assload of money by just buying some CTR pistons and keeping the rods. Do you think this combo is gonna stand up pretty well. My plans for the motor are as follows:
-B16 head w/ P&P
-Toda spec B or Skunk Stage 2 cams and respective valvetrain
-MSD 6AL/coil/cap
-NGK wires
-holly intank pump
-B&M FPR
-DSM injectors
-JDM ITR 4-1 header/intake mani/throttle body
-new ARP or Genuine Honda studs/bolts
-B16 cable tranny w/ ACT clutch and JDM LSD
thats about the beef of it, its gonna be in a daily driven CRX and should be ok for the 2 hour trip I make to phoenix and back often, let me know if you see any other problems or suggestions also, thanks in advance

I agree with mmuller. Walbro is good I have one 255LPH/HP. Get a AFC. For a N/A motor shotpeened LS rod can withstand 225 h/p give or take. CTR piston will give you a very high c/r around 12.1. I currently have USDM ITR and have about 10.9 which I'm pretty happy with, much higher risk knock. My 10.9 does run off 92 with no knock but 11+ you may risk it same say yes other say no.

well first off, I don't see the prob in bumping the comp ratio, I've heard plenty of people who have no prob running ctr pistons on pump gas, the only issue for me is the altitude I suppose but w/ the 11.9 or 12:1 compression its gonna give me, and I ran the calculations on the c-speed comp calculator and got 11.97:1, I don't think its gonna be a major issue. going back to the rods though, it sounds like some of you guys are alright w/ using those stock LS rods, but zcivic you said shotpeened LS rods are only good for like 225? Not that I'm gonna be in that range necessarily but I would rather not test the tolerances of my components if I don't have to, I don't have the money for hondata and **** but will most likely start w/ just an S-AFC

The setup I used to have was almost the same as you're looking at...Your stock rods is fine and you don't need to change it out. The fuel pump would be fine as well, but it's always good to upgrade if you have the money. It's a very reliable motor if done right and you'll love the power.

Would have to assume your going all motor with your set up. I've never seen a all motor ls-vtec that was much over 225h/p this is off the bottle of course. If your going with OEM pistons gonna have to use some honda rods, aftermarket rods use spiral lock wrist pins and OEMs are pressed will not work. Also will need to machine 1mm of each side of the small end so the CTR/ITR pistons will fit....

alright well thanks for the help fellas, I'd like to break 225, N/A(and still keep it daily driven and reliable), but thats really a matter of wanting my cake and eat it too and I'd really rather not squeeze because even if done right I think its really tough on your rings, my friend had it on his ZC and after like a bottle and a half it started burning oil
