car goes eeeerrrr *spin* ... smack!
going slightly over the speed limit (15mph) up a hill the right side of my car
hit some dirt and lost traction. car spun left, tried to correct/brake- ended
up overcorrecting. front of car falls into a 4ft wide run off ditch, rear
momentum keeps pushing the car until it does a complete 180. stereo is
still bumpin while i exit my car.
squirtle mobile (95 integra) saved me. so now i want to save it. i talked to my insurance last night and they said after a 500$ deductable i'm in the clear.
damages should be appraised pretty soon but i want to plan for the next step.
the bad
---------
-right front wheels bent: other possible damage?
-right rear wheel bent: other possible damage?
-front wheels dont spin: bent front suspension?
-body damage from severe to mild: front, right rear, left rear
the good
----------
-axle seems okay
-engine running fine
-no injury (yay)
okay. so the main piece of information i'm waiting for is whether or
not my insurance is going to call it totalled.
If not, what repairs can i expect and what should be upgraded to
prevent future occurance?
-------
-suspension? stock
-wheels? stock- steel
-tires? total crap, probably k-mart brand.
-driver? knowing the car's charecteristics more, and knowing how
to safely avoid loss of control. driving slower?
If in fact the car is totalled, i'd like to keep the engine (which i'm told
is possible) and drop it into another late model honda.
---------
-crx?
-civic?
-what cars can house the engine properly?
-is it worth it to try and find an empty frame with no engine?
wooooah doctor. long post. please reply on any area with which
you've had experience or know-how.
much thanks,
david

Well, as far as the engine is concerned, it will go into just about any honda. If I remember correctly, it will fit easily into any crx, 92+civic, any integra and with a mounting kit it will fit in any honda that we get in the states (ok, I'm not sure about the cr-v and s2k but i doubt those are in consideration).
As far as the damage, there's too many possibilities for me to think of anything probable. Depending on your insurance company, if the damage is 25% they might make it a salvage car so they might let you buy it or pay you off. I think the norm is like 50-60% damage though (???).
Sorry to hear about your situation. Hope it turns out good.
If you keep the car, use the money for anything aftermarket. For the price Acura will charge for everything, you should be able to get pretty decent stuff to replace it instead (suspension, rims, etc.)
