fastest setup for 1500$$
Im lookin for the fastest setup i can get for about 1500 bucks, i just picked or 90 crx si for 1k but its got 180000 miles on the motor so im not sure how it will respond to tunning and stuff, should i keep it or go for a z6???? any ideas would help
the basics
i/h/e
rebuild your motor with
new bearings/rings
zc pistons
and overhaul head.
get valve job.
throw in a good cam.
done.
$1500 monster d series.
with the i/h/e you may go a little over.
do much research, it will prove to be your best friend in the fight against paying for things you dont need.
heres a pic. for you to think about...
z6 block with zc pistons

I vote for a B17, but then I always do.lol
Better than plain ole B16 at the same price.

B17a is a rare find, i use the b17a gsr cable trans... Love it.... But i would do a B18b over a B16a and a B17.. I just like torque thats all

ya thought about doin a turbo z6 but i thikn i turbo kit would put me over 1500 but if i did it it would prolly be pieced together from whatever parts i could get...btw anyone have any ideas on somthin like that ive heard good and bad things about doin a junkyard turbo setup
get the Z6 put some ZC pistons in there....get i/h/e...Y8 intake manifold or if you have the money getta Skunk2 Intake manifold....ACT Clutch & flywheel...EF-1 or an Exospeed camshaft..
Hey just thought id add this cars needs to b preety reiable prolly goin to get driven 4 or 5 days a week. If anyonein teh CT area knos a shop that will do the z6 swap lemme kno im not so sure i can do the wiring stuff for it.
Id honestly take th z6 over the ZC being that its more reliable and thats what your looking for...the z6 is bout the same amount of horse power and better aftermarket support with ease where as you have to research the ZC ....so 75shot that **** and ride out got a grand in it that leaves you 500$ to do some bolt ons and have maybe 13.9's but nmost likely low 14's

do you think a z6 block and zc or a1 pistons would be reliable? i mean would it do its job weekly, i work bout a mile from my house and i work bout four days a week, i don't know any imput on this, i would like a quick all motor, and not a lot of money, you also said use a ef1 cam shaft how is that gonna work in a z6 head? just wondering it's not a vtec cam is it?

They do make aftermarket cams for VTEC heads you know?
Sorry, I didn't understand it the 1st time.

Why do people say this crap?
Reliable - My first ZC: I beat on it for 5 years. I dropped a set of race cams in it. Then I turbocharged it at 10 psi non-intercooled. Then I put the cams back in it. The car saw 8000 rpms daily. Keep the oil changed and it fine.
Aftermarkert support. What do you mean by this. There are plenty of cams out for the ZC now. You can adapt B-series to work for cam gears. Valvetrain has been developed. If you're to lazy to do any research before you buy you should be playing with this crap in the first place.
Now as for the original post. Does the original motor smoke or burn oil? If the original motor is in good condition I would skip all the I/H/E crap and just boost it. You can do 7 psi safely more if you can control fuel. (Zdyne, Ghettodyne)

well everyone is skipping the other part of my ? how do you use a ef1 cam in a z6 head, vtec heads use vtec cams and non vtec can not use vtec cams and vise versa, so my question is how do you use a ef1 cam in a vtec head
and no problem bout the confusion
