Changing the Manual tranny fluid...
Damn this is turning out to be a bit of an annoyance.. The car is so low I cant reach under there for the drain/fill bolts. Any tips on doing it besides lifting the car, which I cant, because I have no type of lift..
Will the jack that comes with the car be ok?
DOH
Maybe if I try it on a slight hill...

a good jack and a pair of jackstands can be had for 30 bucks @ kragen or autozone.
working under a car with the OEM jack, and trying to torque a nut or bolt is, for lack of a better term, scary as ****.

the jack in your car is for changing tires, not for maintenance. use a jack/ jack stands, you don't want a vehicle to fall on you. I had a 10,000 pound tow tractor almost fall on me before (at work, same one as avatar). that was scary.

If you don't have any jack stands just use the jack that comes with the car. Find a block of wood or something to put under there just to be safe. Take off the right front tire. Helps a lot. To fill it I used a funnel that I attached a piece of tubing to so I put the funnel in the engine bay. Worked great. Just don't put too much in at a time or you will spill. That's why I used clear tubing.

Alright I'm going to Sears and getting the jack stands.. They are like 35 bucks.. I think it raises it like 24 inches which will be more then enough..
Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the help.
it will only raise 24 inches if you have something to raise it with! u need a hydro jack!
anyways...if you get a buddy to help ya...what i do, is get a 3 foot clear tube...
feed it through the top of the engine bay, while my buddy pours the oil into the funnel connected to the tube...i stick that tube in the fill hole and wait till it drains out...
make sure the car is level though...don't want to be running to little or too much oil in there!
so actually you'll need 4 jack stands if you want to do it right!

I got a hydrojack+ two jackstands..
Heh two will be enough..
Dont you have to drain all the old fluid out first? You just start filling it with the old fluid in?
edit: and how many quarts of the Fluid do I need?

Guys prelude styl told me that you can also fill in the fluid via the spout which is in the engine bay..
He told me it's easier... I was wondering if anyone else did this before? I also am not 100% sure of what this spout is that he is talking about, but i'll post a picture and if anyone knows about it, please tell me if this is it..

Yes, that is the best way to do it if you ask me. The only downside is you cant know you have "exactly" 2qts in the tranny.
Jack up the car, drain the old fluid.
Lower the car and attach a small diameter tube to a funnel and attach the other end to that nipple in the picture and pour in 2qts and youre golden.

Whoever told you that is a fool. The VSS is on the BACK side of the tranny and not in an easy spot to get to AT ALL. I think you are refering to the back-up light indicator which is in the front. That is possible but its placement and size of the bolt (19mm if I remember correctcly) makes it a pain.

no homie, they are not a fool. What you need is a long funnel and remove the intake. One bolt takes out the VSS and gearing, and move it aside. Filler up and your done. Try it before you knock it.
