not much can be gained from either one...i would go with K&N, since can be washed and seem to last longer then foam filters....

Spoon filter is made by Monster Sport; the Power Filter 2 is RED whereas the Spoon is YELLOW. The Monster Sport will be cheaper.

If I remember correctly, Monster Sport claims the Power Filter 2 is one of the best flowing filters on the market.

every manufacturer claims their product is the best...wouldn't sell too well if they said..."well it's not as good as the K&N, but..."

I'm not sure how representative my comment will be but I tested the Spoon Sports filter back in '98 and I didn't see much of a gain.

This was on a STOCK '97R with timing advanced to 18deg. I saw 164whp and 117ft-lb of torque.

With the Spoon filter I saw about 2-3 at the Xover and less than 2 at peak.....Torque seemed marginally better but didn't break 4ft-lbs anywhere....

In all fairness I don't think the STOCK setup/exhaust/motor is actually pulling enough air to make a difference with a drop in..... perhaps when you have done all the I/H/E & maybe some cams?

But on the flipside I saw nearly 7whp PEAK gain and ALMOST 9 mid? with my AEM....needless to say, I'm sure you know what I'm still running today....

How do these compare to the Comptech foam filter so many of us are using?

Spoon offers this filter for more torque and mid-range response. It bascially doesn't have a big increase to a stock engine compare to AEM but with big cams like Toda B, I don't see AEM does any better then Spoon and actually peak power is a bit higher with the Spoon filter. What I can say is , all depends with your setup.
