Default zc wont start; go figure..

well my zc was running good up until yesterday. A squeeling noise started coming from the distributor and eventually that night it wouldn't start. It just cranks and doesnt even sound like its trying to fire over. Well I pulled off the distributor and the thing was totally locked up. Well I guess I have to break some bread and buy a new dizzy since nobody around here has used ones. I bought a new 89 teg dizzy ($300) and took off my old cap to switch it over including the rotor. The rotor was completely shattered and the cap was toast. I bought a new cap and rotor and put it on the new distributor and put it on. Nothing happened, it still just cranks and doesnt fire up.

Can anyone help me? I really need to get this fixed soon.

thanks

did you have to mess w/ the wires at the dizzy at all? Make sure that the white wires are actually in the right location & making contact at the plug correctly. Check fuses, and maybe check the ICM.

You just can't slap the distributor on and expect it to start. You need to adjust the timing dude. Also check to make sure all the wires are where they are suppose to be.

Sure you can. I've taken mine on and off a hundred times and started the car with no problem. The dizzy will only fit one way. Just check to see like 95prelude said to see if all the wires are in the right place and also check to see if the dizzy is complete with all the inside parts ( coil, ignitor)

BTW: I've had the same problem over and over again. Honda dizzys will freeze up!! Like I've said before, these dizzys brand new can cost over $400 at the dealer. Eliminaste the problem by switching to a distributorless ignition like the Electromotive HPX. It costs about $570 and you a system that has the benefits of an MSD system and no moving parts to freeze up like the Honda dizzys. It's even worth the cost of (2) used dizzys.

Check timing, check ignitor, check wire pin connections coming off of ignitor.
