itr intake question: box same as gsr? what to use as arm?
hey guys, after going through every intake under the sun, i really like the torque and sound of the stock airbox, granted it falls on its face past 7000rpms, but hopefully with some more compression that will help that out.
Now currently, i am running a jdm b16 arm w/ a Civic Box. a friend of mine gave me his gsr box and it looks a lot like the type r boxes ive seen... The arm is obviously way different because of the funky manifold. so last night i tried to put the gsr box on my jdm b16 arm, and it wouldn't fit obvoiusly...the pipe is too small.
i am curious if the ITR arm is the only arm that has that configuration, yet will still accept the box, and if someone can confirm that they are the same box? I have a 92 gsr (b17) so im looking for something like a type r arm but im not sure if the LS uses the same arm or something similar or what. Please help me out and let me know what you think i should do. thanks again.
...and does anyone have an itr intake arm for sale?

Same box, the resonator just pulls air from a different area.

yes ive seen that, but im talking about the actual arm of the intake, from the TB to the box... this piece...

im curious if the LS, or civic si arm is the same as the type r arm, so i don't have to mess with this junkus on the left...

this is a dark shot, but it needs to look somewhat like this...b/c...well..its my engine..

i am not going to be running the resonator b/c i have other methods of routing cold air... thanks for the reply though

Ok to be clearer, the box is the same as already stated, the Arm (rubber hose from the IM to the Airbox) for the LS/RS/GSR and ITR are of the same configuration but of different diameters.
The pipe from the bottom of the box to the Resonator is a different diameter from what I remember and the resonator is different as well. But, it's been awhile since I had my LS so just how different I can't exactly recall
Hope that helps.

thanks greyteg-- do you suggest the ITR arm would be worthwhile finding and running opposed to the gsr or LS arm? I can't stand how the stock box falls on its face up top, but love the torque and how it sounds... kinda holding off till i get another intake, id rather just have a drop in and put the money elsewhere... id pretty much had every intake on the market, and even built a few of the own...cant run a mugen or competch b/c of different chassis...
Edited my post please refresh and reread.

I'm not an expert on this stuff, I've just owned several different G3's. The Intake Arm (rubber hose) is a different diameter between the RS/LS/GSR& ITR so getting what fits best will be trial and error, and what you want to fit be it the airbox or TB I'm not sure which one you want to fit better.
I still don't really understand what you mean by "falls on it's face?" That I'd expect to be a tuning issue and not totally related to the Intake alone.
Sorry, hopefully I helped, sorry if I confused things more.

"falls on its face" when i had my abundance of cold airs, it would seem that they would come alive above 6000rpms, and be dead below that... I also recently installed a car sound cat (in replace of my test pipe) so I am also suffering the effects of that... anyway, i appreciate everyone's help. still like to know what i should do...what are you running 1greyteg?

Yes the inside of the intake arms are smooth up to the point where it is ribbed to flex near the airbox in the pic above.

Again, I wouldn't attribute a sigificant loss of power to the intake arm or airbox but, again I'm no expert. My LS did produce some gains with an AEM/CAI but, didn't feel like a total slouch when I swapped back to the stock intake before resale.

My car is pretty stock in comparison to many here. For an intake I run a full Comptech Icebox and filter with their shiny BlInGiN intake arm
And No my stock Intake is Not for sale just FYI.

the civic si intake arm is 2 1/2 inches in diameter, while the itr arm is 3 inches. also, the si airbox uses a flat filter, while the itr airbox uses a cone filter similar to the gsr.
