I don't think there is a legal right hand drive JDM ITR in the US. On the DOT list of cars that are legal to import I can't find JDM Integra type R. But I can find Skylines on the list so I think all those suposedly legal R's are not Federal legal. That means they are not street legal. Other then that, there is no downside driving a right hand drive car except that you might get more looks from ricers and cops.

Try driving in reverse in banks, drive throws and toll booths.

Shouldn't be bad being on the other side. There are quite a few fast food joints here that have 2 drive thrus (one being on drivers side, one on passanger's side) Just reach over

skyline is non conforming thats why its on the list .
but integra are conforming since it is available and tested here. so
it would not be on that list but that does not mean imported integras are
not legal.

Given that they seem to be cheaper just for the car (let's say $10K for a $17K car here, just as an example), I wonder if all the shipping, customs, and legalization fees would add up to the same amount or if they'd actually make it worthwhile. Who is it that has the RHD ITR racer on the West Coast, Kiwi?

Downsides.......NONE

Upsides... You'll have a proper JDM Type R not some tin pot conversion using second-hand bits, knowing that what you are driving is a fake .

I live in the UK so I don't have the problems of being on the wrong side for drive-thrus!!

Now I don't obviously know about the legal implications but, overtaking will be a pain, getting used to the gearsick (and handbrake) in your left hand will be different. The engine bay will be the other way round ie battery on the right, brake fluid reservoir on the left, water reservoir for wash wipers on the right (little things) '96 spec one don't have ABS therefore more a drivers car!!!

One downside is trying to make left turns from the turn lane, you can't see traffic as well as you normally would on the right side.

The thing is though, if you're in the left hand turn lane at a stoplight and want to turn, it's going to be really hard to see oncoming traffic. By being on the right side and making a left turn and not being able to see what's coming ahead, you put yourself and many others at risk for an accident.

it is a good point...but I guess we could get used to it...
actually, no, cause the traffic here would still be made for lhd, compared to UK where the traffic is made for rhd...

so I guess it would be a pain to do so!

BTW, I know a guy here thats selling a PY Integra with a ZC in it, RHD for 7k cdn negotiable.

If anyone wants it let me know by PM
