4th gen clutch removal, power steering hoses question
I've got a quick question. I stopped working for the day a while ago, but I just thought I'd ask this now before I start again tomorrow.
I'm almost done disassembly for the clutch replacement on my manual 4th gen. I just have to deal with the tranny mount and the final bellhousing bolts and it'll be ready to drop. However, the power steering hoses are still attached to the tranny. I disconnected and removed the VSS as per the Haynes manual (I hate this manual
) but the hoses are still connected. The two bolts to the VSS were removed, the VSS was taken off, and I can see the VSS pin still in the tranny.
So, I'd just like to know what people have done when they did remove the tranny. Did you only remove it a small amount so you can do the work, or did you have to remove the hoses? There is enough slack in the hoses to move it a fair bit, but I'm just curious.
Tomorrow is going to be an adventure

there is one more bolt that holds the vss housing into the trans, remove it and pull it out and move the housing to the side with the hoses on
Thank you good sir
That makes things much easier. I saw that bolt there, but I wasn't sure if I should mess with it. Damn that Haynes manual

an old thread but my question relates...if you do remove the top part of the housing instead of just taking the main bolt off like ur supposed to, is that gonna be some kind of problem...i did remove it before removing the main bolt but i put it back together fairly fast.
