Default Old school question about intake manifold swap from 87 ZC to 89 ZC done it?

I want to swap my 87 intake for the newer 89 intake due to its better runner design and flow, however my 87 intake has an item bolted to the rear of the intake behind the t/b that has only coolant lines hooked to it no electrical just coolant, it looks like it is some kind of thermostat for the intake. The 89 manifold doesnt have the provision for this item so I need to eliminate it. It isnt the EACV as it is located under the t/b on the 87 and the back of the manifold on the 89. Has anyone done this? Had any problems? The reason for the change is because I am trying to maximize flow for turbo.

TIA,
Cj
