Corbeau Seat harness, any thoughts?
I picked up a pair of these and would like to know what you think.
I did read that they are not for street/track use and only for autocross- but what would be so bad about using them for the street?
If you were injured in an accident it could possibly pose a problem with your insurance. They could reject the claim if you had personal injury and we wearing a seat belt that was no street legal. Just a thought....
Plus, they are a pain in the ***.

I think they are just fine and dandy for safety and for the Ins Co. but my fat *** slides around in the seat once in a while and I was hoping to keep it from moving.
Rob, the rule of thumb with harnesses for street and track requires at least the installation of a rollbar to protect you in the event of a rollover.
The danger or using a harness without the rollbar or cage would be when you'd be stuck in an upright position with no slack and no way to avoid any head or spine injury if/when the roof collapses.
I'm certain NASA and SCCA will not allow you to run at a track with a harness without at least the rollbar. At least thats what I've come to believe this season, and can understand fully.
Autocross is a different story. I can only speak for myself and I have personally experienced a rollover directly in front of me at an Autocross so the danger is there but, there is significantly more danger with rollovers on the track and street.
Get a rollbar before you get a harness.

Roll overs, I know the dangers and thats why I was asking about this particular harness. It really does not lock a person into an upright position and the stock seats will collapse if needed.
Just tossing some ideas/thoughts into the air.....

Not that I want to make a stink, but what does roll bars have to do with my topic?
I'm not asking about harness and rollbars- just a harness.

Just wondering for the fact that they are always brought up when asked about harnesses and any type street use. And in this topic as well.

Um, no. If you have 4 points and you can slide under them, then they will not protect you at all. In the event of an accident or sudden stop you may also find yourself under those belts.
If you want added saftey what I have done is first I installed an Autopower roll bar, and next I used Sparco 3" four points. Now that I have a Mugen bucket seat I will install a 5th point so I don't "slide down".
