Anyone here dissapointed about their Fiber image hood?
Im planning on buying a Fiber image cf hood but i dunno the quality and fitment. So can ya please shine some lite.thanks. any suggestions would be helpful
I can never get mine to fit, and so far I know at least 5 peeps with the same problems...
I called fiberimages, and their responses was "well, we couldn't never get the integras to fit right.....so don't feel bad.."
so it's pretty common...but as far as Carbon fiber quality such as weaving, strength, and finish, I think FI is top notch..and their customer service is also top notch...
so If I have to choose all over again, I'd stil go with FI eventhought the fitment issues makes me wake up every night, thinking of a new solutions to make it fit..

It took me a while and lots of work with the Dremel to get my Fiber Images hood to fit acceptably on my Integra. Right now, it fits about as good as it is going to without major work on the area where the hood meets the hinges. It seems a common problem with the FI hoods is that they sit too high at the hinges, and I have also seen a number of them that have problems with gaps along the edges as well. Quality of construction for the hoods is quite good though. I was tempted to try a BKNW hood until I read the post on H-T about someone's high-end Civic hood and was less than impressed with the quality and fitment. Unfortunately, it seems that there are very few quality choices when it comes to USDM Integra hoods. You might want to see if Benen plans on releasing an Integra hood soon. Good luck with whatever hood you choose.

I don't know about the Integra hoods, but my Civic hood fits pretty well. Sits just a little high on the one side, but it's not that noticable. Quality is great. The thing with any CF hood though, is once they scratch, it's hard as hell to get the scratch out.

I have a FI carbon fiber hood on my Civic hybrid and while it doesn't fit the greatest, it's still better than a lot of other hoods I've seen. The quality of the hood is top notch. I'm satisfyied considering my hybrid is in less than perfect condition anyway. I just want to go FAST in it. LOL! haha. Now if it were my ITR, I'd probably feel differently about the whole situation.
The Carisma c/f hood is the best fitting hood for usdm Tegs. I have a Versus hood on my del Sol and the drivers side has a 1/2 inch gap which I can do nothing about

I'm interested in some info on c/f hoods as well, but i'll be damned if I'm gonna spend hundreds of $$$ on a hood and it doesn't fit right...I'll wait till I can get one that is made right.
I have a VIS Racing one on my car. Quality is awesome and it fits perfect. Lines up with the fenders and everything. I'll take pics soon.
my jdmhondaparts.com hood fits perfectly. all i need is the rubber lining that goes inbetween the bumper and the front of the hood and that will get rid of the ~nil free play there is. i cna take pics as well later today.
I have a FI CF hood. The quality of the weave is excellent, the fitment isn't too great. The sides come up a bit higher than the fenders. I just figured that is part of the imperfections you need to accept with a CF hood. From the sound of it, I'm wrong.
I tried to leveled the part where the hood meet the hinges, since it sat a little too high..so I grabbed my dremel and started grinding, at one point I grinded a little too much and the bolts housing came off,
well, that's really really bad, since when the hood is up, that 4 bolts housing is taking a lot of pressure from holding the hood up...
I called FI, and asked them if the can send me a replacement bolts housing, I received it the next day..very prompt..and they person who said the fact that the hood never fit the integras perfectly, said it in a courteous manner and actually aoplogized for the issues....
so, but I am happy with the quality weaving and gloss, which is something that I have seen the bad side of..

What about the Spoon cf hood? I know you have to have the JDM front, but what about fit?

I think its pretty common for the hoods to have more of a gap on one side versus the other. I have a FI cf hood and I have more of a gap on one side versus the other. There is no fix for that. i heard someone say there is a 1 in 20 chance of your hood fitting perfectly right.
Mike K...I'd like to see your car one of these days...CW w/ spoon wheels and a CF hood must look sweet (i'm only a hood away
)
we'll have to set up a time to have a S FL meet...maybe a dyno day too...I really need to get my car tuned...I still have to tune my Field's VTEC/fuel controller and tune the settings on my cam gears...
Let me know if you know of a good dyno shop in the Naples area, I don't mind taking a drive out there, could possibly get a few R's from here to go.
