Default Thinking of buying a 4th gen, have a couple questions

Hey guys, I'm thinking about selling my 92 teg and getting a 92-93 manual S or SI lude and had a couple questions.

How reliable would either of these cars be compared to my teg (B18a, YS1 tranny)

Stock for stock...how fast would either of these cars be compared to a stock B18a teg?

With skunk 2's, AGX's, and azenis...how would the lude handle compared to my teg with the same mods?

Sorry for the total noob questions I know nothing about preludes. Thanks!!!

well its difficult to determine the handling as its based on so many factors, but I'll tell you this, the prelude is the only affordable import with double wishbone suspension front and back and a little wider stance. It is heavier though by a couple hundred pounds, so its tough to say but the SI has 160 hp and 145 tq to make up for it. Parts arent as plentiful but it has more potential IMO. The SI engine doesnt rev as high and the compression is lower so I would say the prelude is more reliable from an engine standpoint, otherwise the same.

Thanks for the input. bro. What are the average stock 1/4 mile times for the S and SI? Thanks again and any other input would be awesome.

I used to have a 91 integra with headers full exhaust intake, etc.. also had the suspension done on it to, I liked it but kept getting smoked by preludes! So I sold the integra and got the lude The stock ludes suspension handled better than my upgraded integra suspension and the car was considerably faster stock than the integra was. Hope this helps you out but trust me you wont regret getting the lude.

we'll see about that when my turbo'd f22 smokes past you, theres potential in any engine, you just have to use the right equipment. Theres plenty of F22's making 200 whp.

also the stock si makes 156 tq not 145 like that dude said. go with si, you will love it..the stock CR is 9.8:1, instead of 10:1, so its not exactly a huge difference

See if you can't find a 4th gen VTEC.
If not get an Si like me
You can get the Si with 4WS. Some people here will say that it sucks and blah blah blah I still love it!
Another plus to the lude over the teg is that you will be different. I don't know if preludes are as rare where you are but I see maybe 1 or 2 a week but I see about 50 tegs every day. (correction I mean 4th gens. I see many 5th gens and 3rd's)

I really doubt I could find a VTEC in my price range. But it would be awesome if I could.

Yes, that is definatelly another plus to having a lude over a DC, EG, or EK. They are much much more rare. I think I've only seen two 4th gen ludes that were modded and I've seen god knows how many civics and tegs .

yeah H-T is my fav technical lude forum.

Preludeonline.com is a good source too but it costs $6 to join.

i can't see myself spending $6 on a internet msg board.

The S model is considerably cheaper, even with a h23 vtec your lucky to make 170 whp, whereas an f22 is allready low compression so you just slap on a turbo and make 200 whp.

I wouldnt recommend this route unless you really know what your doing and can piece together a custom turbo kit yourself.
