What?

I know that the Type R's were limited production. Just wanted to know how limited were they? That's why they come with a number plate, right?

Nobody really knows for the 98, 00, 01. In 97 there were like 700 or something.

and something like 1038 sold in the US in 1998 (letter from Acura Exec).</TD></TR></TABLE>

The letter in question also stated that 318 were sold in 97' by Acura but of course like George stated above the registry goes well over that #. I was told the car #'s cover the whole North American continent but that is just a guess. *shrugs*

Why the flame suit? There are about as many threads on this subject as there are Type R's in the US and Canada.

Honda officially released numbers yesterday.

Total US production of Type-R's...only 3.7, the rest are fakes.

Back in 2000 I finally decided to buy one. I called the local acura dealer, and they said they stoped making them, and they cant get more.
I called a guy I knew at Radley Acura in DC which I believe is the largest Acura dealer on the east coast. He put me on "The List" for special order. When I got mine, he showed me the list, and he had a line drawn under my name. I was supposed to have been the last one, but he got one for 3 other people after me. I'm 1492.

In other words, theres not many more that 1500 made in 2000.

Around 1,500 is a good guess for '00. I'm the PO of 00-1523. It was supposedly (according to the dealer) one of the last of the 2000's. I've heard that the extras above the round numbers were cars used for crash testing, etc. Not at all sure how true that is.

Actually, we do know for sure how many were sold in the States in '97 and '98, because we were told in this letter:

George, remember that the plaque # is irrelivant to production order or number.

You need to calm down. How are you sure yours is real? Yellow are the second fastest behind CW. CW does not heat up as much due to it's color making it much faster.

Don't worry about him, you haven't been on this board long enough to know they're joking. He's not being serious, no need to get angry.

its real as all numbers match and I bought it from a Honda dealer brand new.

Australia basically gets full JDM ITR except for our 421 header like the USDM. Our ECU slightly less revised as we get 98 ron compared to 100+ from Japan. We get everything else JDM gets including 11.1.1 compression and full interior.

sorry if im getting offensive but some excuses for faster cars such as colour is amazing. I thought red ones were faster.

White and yellow faster - geez people.

Again excuse my frustration.

Just for comparison, I think theres something like over 3,000 Ford F150's made per DAY.

More F150's are made in 2 days then in all 4 years of North America ITR production combined.
