Cable to Hydrolic tranny swap.
I am wanting to switch my D16A6 transmission to a Y8 transmission. How hard is it to switch to the hydrolic clutch, and do I need a different transmission mount for the hydrolic tranny? I am looking for a stronger D series tranny.
There is no mount kit out for swapping in a hydro D-series tranny at this time. If you decided to put one in anyway, you would need to make custom mounts and also figure out how you wanted to deal with the hydrolic system. You could make some sort of adaptor and loose the hydro sysem completely or you could route tubing, fit the hydro clutch pedal assembly under your dash, and make it a tryue hydro system.
IMO - both of those routes are more trouble than they are worth. The A6 tranny should be strong enough. The weakness in the D-series trannies is the diff. Go get a nice Quaife LSD and you are set... maybe replace some synchro set while you are in there. A stock 92~2000 tranny has the same issues with the diff.
