97 civic-pops out of second gear-any ideas?
It goes into all gears just fine. NO grinding. Just in second gear when I leave it there a while it will pop out..Any ideas? This is really annoying..It doesn't pop out of any of the other gears, just second..
Anybody know a fix for this or have ran into this problem???

I was thinking of putting more fluid in that's the only thing I can think of. Other opinions said it might be clutch but I doubt that. Trans better not be trash! thanks
Oh crap that could be it..Do you remember how much it cost to fix? I know the previous owner beat on the car hard..*****..
dude, don't panic yet. i've talked to sveral mechanics, and they all said that on honda trannies, if the fluid is even a little bit low, you'll often get phantom shifts into neutral. replace your tranny fluid with honda mtf, and jack the car so that the fill hole is even higher then the rest of the tranny so you can get more fluid in there. if that doesn't fix it.....well....
what do you use to put fluid in I know I have to siphon it in somehow. I'm hoping that's all it is. It can't be clutch cause It goes into gear just fine. The tranny doesn't make any bearing sound at all.
Have any suggestions for getting the fluid in there. Thanks for the info.

Usa a funnel with a long extension on the end of it. If you fit the end on the extension in the hole at least 1/4 - 1/2 inch you wount leak any fluid out. I can gte 2 quarts in my tranny by doing that.
Actually, it can be the clutch. I had the same problem with 3rd gear in my 5th gen. civic and was told the tranny was trash and it wouldn't last another 5k miles. Well, 30k miles later, I got the clutch replaced and found out that it had been damaged. Some of the springs had broken off and were hanging or gone completely. Voila, no more transmission problems. My guy at the Honda dealer said it's kinda rare but he's had it happen more than once. The symptoms are the same though until the clutch is replaced.
