So I can get a Clifford Matrix RS3 for $200 - How much to install?
Buddy of mine works at Best Buy and is hooking me up with his employee discount - Don't know how a $499.00 alarm goes down to $200 but hey can't complain!
They offer to install it as well but I'm reluctant to get an alarm installed at Best Buy - an alarm is only as good as the install, imo - How much have some of you guys paid in getting your RS3 installed? and what are the telling signs of a good installer? (/shrug)

You should look into your friend getting the new Matrix RS3.5. New model. Has a way better looking "carbon fiber" remote, turbo timer, remote belt clip, defroster output and 1 more aux output. RS3 along with the Viper 790xv will be gone soon.
As far as finding a good installer, that can be hard. I would ask a lot of questions about the install. How long will it take? If it takes 3 hours, I would worry that everything is done the fastest and easiest way, not the safest or cleanest. Make sure there are no t-taps or scotch locks. You will just be asking for problems later down the road. I think most good shops that take thier time and do a good install would charge at least 2-3 hundred for that alarm. You could probably find someone to do it for 100 but I would worry. HTH

I suggest taking it to whatever car manufacturer to install. ie. honda or acura then go to honda or acura to install it. That way you know it'll be done right, plus they won't cut many wires and they'll know what they're doing.

bullshit.. most dealerships dont know **** about aftermarket parts on cars.. you know how many alarms and keyless entrys had to be fixed after honda recalled the accords ignition wires? i know iworked on atleast 5 in a very short time.. sounds like you think the dealer knows the most out there, your wrong.. it takes training and time to install an alarm correctly and you can easily **** something up if you got 30 wires that you have no idea where anything goes..

yeah right, a certified honda tech putting in a dei alarm. not good. Get a dei tech to put it in. and tell the installer to cut the wires to length, no excess..
Hey I work at the Boca Best Buy. Maybe I know the kid whos hooking you up. Don't worry I'm not gonna say ****, since every employee is guilty of hooking their friends up.
But there is another phatass alarm system we get thats usually $1000 installed and with the employee accommodation it is only $300. Working at BEst Buy has a lot of perks.
