Default Turbo off Mitsubishi eclipse?

A friend of mine has an older brother with a 96' elclipse with an aftermarket turbo and this car just ******* riiips. well, he was taking a left had turn and got t-boned by a guy doing 50. car is wrecked but engine is fine. Anyways.... just wondering if the turbo would fit into my 92 prelude S. and if not, is there anything i could do or have to get to make it fit?

not 100 percent, but i think you can customize the manifold and make it fit on the h22/23, but i'm not sure about the f22

i'm not sure about the f22 motor. but for the h23, you just need to redrill the holes on the manifold to mount it. i've been told the manifold won't match up to the h22 exhaust ports.

You'd definetely have to customize.I don't know a whole lot about the "S" model ludes though.AS for H23's and H22"s I've heard of people using DSM turbos as a budget turbo upgrade with good results.

the dsm mani can be modified to fit the f22 and h23 exhaust ports, but not the h22. Now as for the turbo mating well to the engine, thats another story.

The DSM turbo manifold will bolt up to the H23/F22 head, but the stud holes will have to be redrilled on the manifold. The turbo should be used w/ it too, but you may need to grind some of the front motor mount away to get it to fit good. Also, w/ an SAFC, you can use the 450cc injectors, if you're pushin enough hp.

if you plot the points for an h22, h23 and f22 on the stock DSM turbo compressor map, the points are way off of the efficiency island, for the H's anyway. I haven't plotted the f22 on this compressor map, but I have heard many people using this setup on their f22's with a modest gain. I don't know how the engines and turbos lasted though, and IMHO it is just a half-assed way to go about having boost.

I agree-- I don't think that turbo's gonna push enough CFM's at high rpm to feed the H22 properly. It's too small a turbo, IMHO. I'd at least go 14B (1st Gen eclipse) or Garrett T3 from older Saabs/Volvos/80's Chryslers (sp??)

true, the T25 is way to small, and I'd go w/ the 14b at least...

...but didn't the guy say it was an aftermarket turbo?

Oh my bad. haha.. sorry. Is it a 16G/big 16g? That's what I had for my Eclipse.. If that's the case, it'll be sufficient. It should be big enough.
