what does the lock up solnoid do?

Default what does the lock up solnoid do?

on automatic tranys, its a code 19, lockup solnoid, anyone know what this does?

The lock-up solenoid tells your torque converter to lock when you're in fourth gear at a cruising speed. The code means either the solenoid isn't engaging, or it isn't disengaging.

Do a resistance check on the solenoid.
