Default What do you think of my V-AFC installation?

Though it is not in the car yet, I had to post a picture of my rearview mirror with V-AFC. Let me know what you guys think, I'm very pleased with the way it turned out and will post some more pictures after installed in the car. Does anyone know if I can just hook up the power and ground to make sure that the display works? I'm going to use Kenji's wiring harness and I wanted to try it out before getting the harness.

Cool setup, but I personally like to be able to check if there is PoPo behind me without turning my head all the way around...

That is true but, I got use to not having a rearview mirror in my other car so I can manage with side view mirrors.

Dr: that's legal in FL at least. You need two rear view mirror devices. The two side mirrors suffice. I dunno about NC law though. Personally, I'd rather remove that blind spot (the inside RVM housing) all together, but it's a nice setup if you want to keep the inside RVM housing

A nice fitting job. However not a practical place to put a VAFC. You would want it ideally lower, at most on the dash.

Plus how are you going to run that monkey rope (black wire on the AFC) to the ECU? It'll be hanging in mid air from that location.

It is going to run behind the head liner and down the pillar to the ECU, I will probably have to extend the wires. I have my radar detector hard wired and mounted right above the rearview mirror and the wires are going to run the same route.

You have gotten used to not using it? WTF? Dumb excuse... quit being rice and trying to show it off... put it somewhere else, set it... and leave it alone. You're only doing it to show-off... it's a perfomance piece... not a sticker.

But it would not be considered rice if I had mounted it on top of the dash!!! WTF!!
If I were going to be rice about it, I would put a big a$$ APEX-i sticker across my front windshield! I just thought that it was a cool location and I had not seen anyone else mount a V-AFC in the rearview.

Chad~

Have you considered wiring in a dimmer for night driving? Might be something to look into.

We've seen plenty of pics where people have mounted them above, below, beside the mirror... the mirror is a necessity for a car... For one to say they've "grown" to be used to not having one...

Who said put it on the dash... put it in a din opening, or in the glovebox all I care. Have fun showing it off... Try not to get so defensive... Sounds like I struck a nerve.

Though I must admit I would not mount mine at that location, I definitely disagree with the "set it and leave it alone" bit. Since becoming more familiar with mine, I find my self using mine more and more. I don't think Chad is trying to "show it off", but rather wanted an authentic location. BTW, offensive action causes defensive action. Have a

Chad-

Nice setup...very authentic

I don't give a flying flip where I mount my V-AFC. (That's if I had one) I'm going to integrate it on the Rear Bumper so everyone can see my V-AFC and then **** some people off because they wouldn't put one there. Hell I'm going to get about 18 of them and Put two in the front bumper. A couple in the car hanging from the RVM and all. I'm going to put one under the car so the Mechanics can see I have a V-AFC.

Seriously, I don't care where you stick the damn thing. Install it in your ******* if you want. You paid for it...do whatever.

i dunno, i think he set up is original, i personally dont think i would be able to not use the rearview mirror, but if you dont really use it anyways then it seems like a convenient place for your V-AFC.

Damn Jason! Getting rowdy for a Monday morning!!

Chad - Looks shweet! Hope it's legal... I personally like having it right there in easy view. I don't really change settings regularly, but I use the realtime tach, vacuum and tps settings constantly, and use recall to make sure I'm being nice to my baby. For those who think it's rice,

If I get too much flack from the law, it is very easy to get another rearview and remount the V-AFC. Remember my car is RICE now so, I will probably attract alot of attention.
