I want to drive my car a long time. Perhaps 20+ years? But I was thinking, since the B series is gone, how long do you guys think Honda will keep making blocks and heads and parts for the ITR? I don't want to end up 20 years from now needing a new engine and can't find one.. Maybe I should start stocking up...
By law they are supposed to carry replacement parts for 10 years after the last year the car was made. But seeing that there is a huge aftermarket support, I would say that finding parts for a B-series motor would not be a problem in the future. But if you want OEM parts and not aftermarket reproductions then I would stock up now. Because in 20 years I don't see Honda making any making replacement parts for the B-series.

Thats interesting... But imagine how expensive they'll be in 10 years... Probably better to buy up cheap stuff sometime soon.

I have a 91 sentra se-r autox car, and I dont have any problems finding parts, and they're not expensive either. Theres also tons of engines forsale if you're willing to have them shipped from other parts of the country.
I think we'll be fine ten years from now. 20 years from now, its hard to say. Depends on if the ITR becomes a classic or not.

They wont be more expensive in 10 years. They will be cheaper. Price dont appreciate they decrease. If it was parts from 60 years ago then it would be harder to find and thats when they appreciate but for Honda's i dont see any 80's model car costing more for parts when they are 20 years old.

Not always true. I spent $80 dollars for a handful of O-rings for my 1978 Suzuki GS550 motorcycle so I could rebuild the carbs. That one was hard to swallow.

It really seems to depend on the car.
I have a 89' chrysler conquest (last year they made them), and if i go to the dealer for parts, they have to use a microfiche reader and everything, it ends up taking a few hours at each crack.
But the parts are not too expensive.

I agree. At my old job at honda we had a early 80's civic come in that was carburated and it needed a new carb. and honda only had like 3 left in the entire nation. The price of the carb was like $900 or something ridiculously high since there were only like 3 left.

Honda has another company to keep stock of their "vintage" parts... so I think they still have an abundance of parts available, and as the car gets older, the demand for parts is less due to the amount of cars out on the road...
as for the DC2, it still shares a lot of it's parts with every other integra... and the type-r parts aren't high demand through dealerships since most type-r parts are often found through the aftermarket/blackmarket...
but most DC2R parts are special order...or on backorder, i.e. ITR Trannies
