Default Exhaust Piping on B16A

Currently I have 2.25" crush bent piping, one resonator, stock exhaust manifold, and apexi n1 muff.

I just got header today (Greddy 4-2-1) w/ a 2.5" collector. Now my problem is determing piping. The previous set up was still too loud so now I'm deciding to slap on 2 resonators (Cherry bombs) and the N1. These my 2 ideas right now:

1) From the 2.5" collector, i put 2.5" piping w/ a 2.5" Cherry bomb resonator. After the bend at the rear right it'll switch to a 2.25" resonator and piping and ending through the N1

2) Go with 2.25" piping and resonator all the way

My other question is: is it possible to replace that spring connector point behind the cat w/ flex piping?

Thx

Go with mandel bends, and go with 2.5 size piping unless your gonna go turbo later on, then go 3. And yes you can replace that pipe.

Wouldn't 2.5" be considered too big for a 1.6L engine?

No, specially if your gonna get crushed bent, because then it gets smaller where it was crushed.

greddy doesnt make a header with a 2 1/2 inch collector, i have had 2 of them both with 2.25 inch collectors, unless this is some sort of custom job.

to anwser the question is 2.5 to big? no it isnt, im running it on my b16 with itr cams, and a jdm header with a 2.5 inch collector, the noise does suck though, you can click my website in my sig and download my dyno movie and hear the loudness that is my car.

See that's the prob. Right now with 2.25" the loudness is bothering me; if goin to 2.5" is gonan be even louder...oh man - cops here i come.

Would it be possible to start off with 2.5" and doing a transisition somewhere in mid to 2.25" ending off?

Get a resonator and it won't be as loud.

That's the problem right now. I got a resonator already plus my muffler and it's still loud. So i'm planning on putting on 2 resonators plus the muffler

2.25" gets my vote. I've been running that for quite a while now; 2 1/4" crush-bent muffler-shop jobbie. 2.5" is too big IMO.

why don't you switch your muffler? i know, it might not be in your budget...but if you swap your muffler for a different one, it might be better than having 2 resonators or tapering your exhaust piping...i had a 5zigen fireball (the larger older ones) on my b16 for a while with a resonator and 2.25" crushbent piping, it didn't sound bad at all...now i have a magnaflow stock-type exhaust and its similar in sound to a greddy sp, although, i'd still rather get a greddy if i could

I thought about it, but yeah budget is just out. I went through 3 diff muffs already b4 the N1. Started off with a RActive (ugh...), then went to a DC Sports catback but when i got my swap the 2" became a bit smaller then i wanted, and my friend eyed my exhaust, so i sold it. Then I couldn't find any cat back CRX exhaust that had 2.25" piping so went with the N1 after reading some HT threads.

Well Imma try the dual resonator thing first - best budget alternative for now. Probably replace teh spring connectors with a flex pipe as well

Thx guys for all the input.
