whistling intote note Skunk2 intake manifold
I have a b18c in my hatch with the normal bolt ons I/E/H I ran it that way for a few months and then like nmost of us I need alittle more so I went out and got a set of skunk2 stage2 cams(and valve train stuff ie springs and retainers) after some turning(VAFC) I was really happy,,,about a month later I was looking to gain a few more ponies so I got a Skunk2 Intake manifold.....
So here's where I am, with the new intake manifold @ about 2500-3500rpms with about 1/3 trottle I get a whistling noise... I was wondering if this is normal? Has anyone else had this happen to them?

sounds like you might have a leak.. try and test it by listening to it while you manually raise the revs with the tb cable. might be from the intake gasket no sealed up or the tb

did you ever check the gasket??
did you ever check the gasket??
Mine does the "whistle" from 20-25% throttle...Started when I put my Type R manifold on it...I don't have any leaks...and I can tell fools its a turbo spooling up...

Yes I uninstalled it and replaced the gasket and paid special attention to make sure it seated correctly...Didn't help

i just installed my skunk2 manifold and I get a loud annoying whistling sound at about 30% throttle also. Does anyone have a solution to this?
also if it was a gasket seal leak wouldnt the idle be affected?

I'm sure that's normal.
If you had a gasket leak you'd have bigger problems.
It's probably due to resonating frequencies or something like that.
You did re-torque the studs/bolts to 17 lb/ft after driving it for a while right?
Just one of the sounds of performance.

The whistling is normal there is a plate inside and when you use just the right amount of throttle (like 30% at 3500 rpms) the plate is only partialy open there for causing a whistling sound. if the whistling sound last through your whole rpm range then you could possible have a leak.
A plate in the Skunk2 manifold? Never heard that before. Mine does the whistling thing too, I assumed it was from the added volume of the runners. Im pretty sure that the manifold does not have a plate in it.
I get the same thing....I believe its due to a slight variance in size between the throttle body and the s2 mani. if you open the valve and feel aroound where the two match up you may feel a slight lip. I believe as the air rushes past this lip at part throttle, a whistle will occur.
my 2 cents...

Just wanted to clear up my mistake in my earlier post. when i said there is a plate i ment the throttle body plate and when it opens a slight bit like around 30% throttle you will hear a whistling sound because the way the air is directed into the design of the manifold cause a whilstle. anyway it is normal to here a whistle a certian throttle levels
Just a lil story. I was comming home from work today, and a 94-95 LS pulls up beside me, he's got a super hot chick with him. He was like you wanna race. All I had to do was hit that 23% throttle and he was no way man you got a turbo!!! I laughed for the rest of the ride home. HAHAHAHA
when it "whistles", do you guys lose performance? or does it just make the whistling sound??? i wanna get a skunk 2 intake manifold, im just doing some research first before i get it.
