Default Sway bar input needed

I'm currently running a Progress 22mm sway on the rear of my 90 rex w/Tein Ha coilovers (As soon as I get them on), what size swaybar should I use to complement the rear. I was told another 22 on the front would actually hurt my handling and I should probabably run with a 15-18mm on the front. Any input?

Sorry i have no info for you, but i was wondering, how does it feel with a 22mm rear bar? does it slide out in corners or no?

It depends on what you're doing. For normal street driving I'd say stay stock in front. For auto-x I'd remove the front bar completly. For track (road-course) it would depend on the layout and driver preference.

The larger rear bar will help counter understeer and promote chassis rotation. Since auto-x has tight slower speed corners you need this more. For some turns at certain tracks, I prefer to have some roll-resistance in the front in high speed sweepers.

Yeah with the stock front and 22mm in the back it would get sideways! It was fun trying to pull off FF drifts around turns till one of the brackets snapped and I jerked back and forth like 6 times then regain control, since then I've removed the rear and I'm waiting on a new bracket, which I will weld this time and the front sway bar to help out on the SUPER OVERSTEER!

I'm mostly into backroad driving and I'm planning on getting into some legal track driving, Auto x never really appealed to me I like turns not cones..With the stock front (DX model) and the 22mm in the back it would kick out pretty violently when I would turn hard. Do you know if the DX stock sway is 18mm too? It didn't have a rear sway....what do you think, any input would help

What kind of touring are you planning on doing...I just had AGXs on my ride w/ an Eibach pro kit and I took them off for Tein. They gripped pretty hard..but pretty hard is not TEIN hard...

1. I think the DX may have had a 16mm front. I've seen listings for replacements bushings of 16/18/19mm. There are plenty of aftermarket fronts that are equal, or close to, what you have on the rear. That would balance out the difference in roll stiffness so the transistion wouldn't be so extreme, which would be better for legal street driving conditions (slower speed, rain, surface conditions, etc.).

From a competition setup point of view (not backroad driving, see below) you would be going in the wrong direction and bringing back some of the front end push inherent to FWD. When you go with a larger rear bar, you need to adapt you driving style to keep from imbalancing the front to rear bias of the car. I'm guessing your unweighting the rear of the car to quickly for this setup. Either by induced lift-throttle-oversteer or too steering input while braking; and this is accentuated by the bigger rear bar. Even a stock car will come around if you do either of these, just not as abruptly/quickly.

2. Actually for 1 auto-x run there are more turns and tighter ones than 1 lap of any road-course I've been on. I'd propose that you may prefer the flow and higher speed of a track rather than the relative "abruptness" of the tighter, slower typical auto-x course. I've done both and each fufills a different need.

3. If the above is true, I'd strongly suggest something like NASA's HPDE, SCCA's street school, UnlimitedLaps, etc. for starters. Then you can decide whether to do wheel-to-wheel road racing or continue doing lapping days. Sears Pt. aka Infineon Raceway is ~30 mins. from you, and ThunderHill and Laguna Seca are ~2-2.5hrs away. Not preaching, just a suggestion. Beats a ticket or balling up the car on the street. Its also easier to sort out setup changes like these in a controlled environment.

Listen the what XrxR6 is saying. He's got some real good info. Your rear bar is fine, but upgrading to a Si front bar would be plenty. You just need to play around with the stiffness of your HA's and get used the them. I remember when I first got my HA's...

Stock front Si bar up front and No sway in the back. I put the back kinda stiff. (Level 10 I think it was) and the front a bit softer (8 i think) to get that back end around since my lack of sway. Well after driving it for a bit that definatly did not work. My rear end was sliding all over the place, just like your talking about. No control is not fun. I have since, changed the sitffness of my struts many different times trying to figure out what was best for me. I suggest the same for you.

BTW this was writen by the user BRYANT. I just posted it under my friends name and dint feel like switching names. lol.

I have a progress rear on my delly with no front sway, and that thing is fun!

Honestly though, it could use a stock sized bar up front, but my car is setup for autox so it rotates like the champ

I was actually throwing around the same idea, although my car is my daily driver and it wouldn't be very sportsman like if someone ran into me and I beat the crap out of em and I could probably use a little more training as XrcR6 suggested. So I'm still doing some thinking about it, has anyone competed? Whats the average set-up for the Honda challenge, would I be extremely underpowered?! My stats are in my sig.

i have st 22mm on my car and no front bar. my spring rates are all outta whack, but the car still rotates when i lift throttle. other than that, its pritty neutral. its realy not an issue daily driving. its awsome for autox, and for circut u have to pay attension to where u take your foot off the mat. the suspension tech. is adjustable too. mine is on full stiff.
