Default Ditching the front motor mount.....

How bad is it for your motor to do this?

when i had my jdm f22b turboed i had to ditch the front mount....it seemed to drive normal but when racing you get a lot of engine jolt.... i can say that running with out the front motor mount for extended periods of time will eventually cut the life of the other motor mounts significantly. I don't suggest it.

The front motormount controls the motion around the axis that sees the most motion. Go without it, and your engine is going to be throwing itself around like nobodies buisiness, whether you can feel it or not. I give it

didnt you see, they made a custom mount. longs it holds, it should work great.

I give you 2 thumb ups for not being able to read properly. Thank you for the info as always, you are correct about ditching the motor mount. Would you care to explain why civics can function properly without the mount? I wonder if it has anything to do with the motor sitting back more which is why this swap is supposed to make the car's handling performance decrease...

I still bet if you inject the rest of the mounts with windshield glue, it will be just fine and dandy

Theres a little more to this manifold then I thought, so $699 for these. My B series SSTs are also now $699(havent changed my site yet), Im hiring somebody to help keep up with demand.
Ya the mount was a one-off. I have enough room to move the turbo over about two inches, which should give plenty of clearance...

Looking good guys. And ZoneHKS you live real close by I would love to see your setup once its done. I am really thinking of boosting the Type S engine and will proabably go with Tinker once I have made up my mind..

Gudeh23: The reason why civics dont have issues with using the torque mount is because they use aftermarket mounts that are more solid and they use urethane bushings.. If you are able to obtain stiffer mounts then I see no reason why you could take out the torque mount on your car or do an adjusted bracket like Tinker did..

Currently I run the energy suspension motor mounts. Do you think that's good enough? I will know tomorrow exactly what needs to be done to make the bracket fit. I was also thinking about possibly relocating the mount and adding adapter plates so I can squeeze in a 3" dp.

Probably not especially since you are turbo, the motor will have much more torque than stock. I would try to facbricate something if possible and if anything having the inserts will only help..

Actually, in stock form... new mount have nothing to do with it. While the civics/tegs don't have a "front" mount...they do actually have mounts on the front sides of the motor, besides the 2 big ones on the sides. They are smaller mounts, but they try to accomplish the same thing. I don't have a pic right now, but open the hood of one, and look at the front left side of the tranny. There is a mount there.

josh

BTW...the manifold looks good as always cody

H-series Civic hybrids only use 3 mounts. You maybe thinking of the b-series that have addittional torque mounts on the sides..

I did see the custom motormount. Custom motor mounts are > than no motor mounts.

Civics don't have motor mounts because the vast majority of the models are not designed for high performance situations where the drive train will se alot of shock. The idea is that joe shmoe will just be driving from point A to point B in his civic, and won't be shifting hard and crap like that. the civic si doesn't have a front motormount because it based off the lower models that don't have a place to put a front motor mount on. But as i recall, the 3 remaining motor mounts are bigger than regular civic mounts.

If you beef up the remaining 3 (solid rubber, polyurethane, or just metal mounts) I do believe you'll be just fine.

hmm now thati think of it, i once knew a kid shortly that had a del sol with an h22 swap or he claims, now i don't know how many mounts they use im assuming 3 but, he had all kinds of mods done to it and a CM stage 4 clutch, and he snapped his read tranny mount after some beating on the car. dunno though if the del sol has only 3 mount with an h22 swap, but i thought i would share this,

BTW can't wait to see what kind of modifications i have to do when i get my sst from cody and 3 inch down pipe, gonna be fun
