im interested in buying a type r block from somebody near me, but the only question i have is if it's really a type r block? it's complete from headgasket down. the pistons are stamped p73. the block is stamped b18c, but with no 1 or 5 suffix. can anybody shed me some light? thanks

 

B18C means that it is a JDM motor. Whether or not it is an sir-G or itr I don't know.

You can always remove the crank. Sure way to tell.

 

Yea, B18C is JDM, I think the only other way to tell besidse crank removal is if the Tranny has LSD on it..

 

JDM SIR-G also came with a S80/Y80 with optional LSD, so peeping the tranny stamp may not help you.
