Default JDM 5th Gen Prelude Foglights

If anyone is interested, there's a guy on Ebay selling the JDM foglights for the 5th Gen Prelude. The kit includes all the necessary parts. And I think its a really good price, $270, its definitely the cheapest I've seen so far.

I got those JDM foglights and installed them last weekend. It came with everything I needed. Except that, for some reason, it was missing the clips that hold the lights in place. So I got what I needed at Home Depot.

It came together quite nicely. I installed the foglight switch in place of the dimmer, which now sits inside the panel above my knees. I can reach under there and adjust the panel lighting if necessary. It doesn't bounce around in there, which is good, but I'm not completely comfortable with the set up.

I'm curious to know what kind of setup Honda gives you if you went with the foglight option in the US, or in Japan for that matter. I've seen a reference to a panel where the dimmer sits below the cruise control/sunroof/foglights switches, but I havent been able to confirm this. If anyone has photos of how its set up I'd like to see how it looks.

Anyway, here are the lights installed :-D

Yes that's a fine price for a brand new, complete set. Looks like someone picked it up.

hey MaWeiTao

I went to my local Honda dealer and ordered the trim panel and trim cover used with the usdm fog lights. I can take a picture of what it looks like while I take shots of the aftermath of hurricane Isabel will do around my place. I don't have a digital camera so I will have to get a Kodak CD. So it will take a week or so for the pictures. But here are the part numbers on my receipt.
P# description
08V31-S30-100R2 W-Holder
08V31-S30-100R3 W-Cvr, Fog

Maybe you can find some pictures on the net if you don't want to wait a week or two.

I've just got the standard bulbs on the car. And the foglights have those H3H bulbs, if I remember correctly.

Because of how I took the photograph it makes them seem a bit whiter than they are in person.

I first asked a friend of mine in Japan to look into foglights. I was hoping they'd be cheaper at the source, but they'd still went for $300, and that wouldnt include shipping.

Those other foglights on Ebay are still expensive. I ended up paying $305 total, after shipping. I think shipping was a bit much for being UPS ground, it was about $25, but it was still cheaper than anywhere else.

Those lights are available here for the same price I paid:

This place also sells them for a bit more, but I think shipping is cheaper than what you find on Ebay:

Ma Wei Tao...those fogs look great!
I've bought my fogs from inlinefour.com and I've had them on for about a year now. I didn't know that you could mount the dimmer switch elsewhere so I just set the dimmer on high and put my foglight switch there. So far things are looking good. I really like how the amber gagues glow at night.
When I got my foglights they came with the standard Koito halogen bulbs and they look kinda weird against my PIAA driving lights. I like how yours matches. Did you pay extra for those bulbs or did they come standard? Did you also change your city lights? I'm also thinking about doing the Ion yellow like on the Toyota Altezza's. I'll try to post some pics up of mine soon!

Those bulbs came with the lights. I haven't thought of changing those lights; I guess I'd have to see how it would look.

hey MaWeiTao

Sorry it took so long to post an update

This is what I decided to do. I put the JDM fog light switch where the dimmer switch went. Then placed the dimmer **** where the USDM fog light switch is suposed to go. I originally had the JDM fog button where the USDM is but they are two different types of button. If you look close the dimmer **** doesn't fit flush. It has about 1mm or 2 gap on top and over laps the same amount on the left and right. All I really need is a seal or grommet to fill in or cover the flaws of an incompatible switch to that location.
I think it looks ok but would prefer it to look like a factory set-up.
