Default Black carbon from exhaust onto bumper

Hey guys.. i was wondering if you had any thoughts on this: i got a 99 GS-R and everything runs smoothly.. oil is good, gas mileage satisfactory, but the only thing that keeps bugging is the fact that i get a dense amount of black smoke/carbon (i have no idea which it is) coming out of my exhaust and it gets all over my back bumper (i got a white car so you can tell easily).. yes i know thats a sign of running rich, and that most hondas run rich, but i have never seen another integra with so much black stuff on its bumper. i have a 5zigen cat-back exhaust.. any suggestions on what i can do? should i scrap this exhaust and go with another one, get a new cat. i've reset ecu several times and i only have exhaust, took out my CAI a month ago... please HELP

It's not normal and your car is running very rich. Is your CEL on? Maybe you should try to replace your primary o2 sensor.

hey bro, why don't u have someone stand by ur exhaust with a white piece of paper while u rev it up to 6000rpm ok.... then it'll be easier to tell if it's carbon or not...and let that smart-person...be smart enuff to stand by a 5zigen fireball as it's being revved up to 6k rpm k thanks....

check your cat. dud cat had this exact effect on my car too.

Do you still have your cat on? Or did you put in a test pipe?

Check your 02 sesnor.

Replace your fuel filter, air filter, and make sure the timing is correct.

thanks for the suggestions so far. yeah i havn't put in a new cat, im thinking i scrap this exhaust (cause the damn thing seriously is a fart can) and i put in a new cat as well. The CEL is not on, like i said everything runs fine (i even put in brand new GSR pistons and rings cause the old ones were burned really bad), but yeah i definitely think its running hella rich. Thanks so far, more suggestions are welcome

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by thaiphob &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">your car is running a lil rich.</TD></TR></TABLE> definitely not a "lil" rich....that wouldnt cause black deposits around the exhaust.
