Well I am doing a Y8 swap in my std (97ex vtec motor)

You should be able to drop the motor right in without any problem..orig mounts will line up, I believe you will have to convert the car from obd0 to obd1 which requires either a wiring headache or a wiring harness from user blown hatch on this forum..I bought one for my swap... You may need new axles and hubs as well since the std axles and hubs are weaker... You dont have to but should convert the car to mpfi from dpfi...Also a distributor from the 93... and if you are getting the ecu from the newer motor, great. I am sorry I cant be of more help... I am not doing the swap myself...but I have done alot of research for my swap and I believe your swap will be similar...easier since you wont have to wire in vtec... I would suggest getting a 5 speed tranny too (my std had the 4 speed..I picked up a dx 5 speed for 50 bux)...good luck!

Use your ecu (DX if you want to leep DPFI or a Si for the MPFI) 88-91 si manifold with all your stock sensors, distributor and the stock dx harness rewired for MPFI. you could use the DPFI if you want to but I dont know why. just use the block and head of the new motor.

mine is a std, so im basically doing a mpfi swap here (with a new engine attached to it) what is needed for dpfi->mpfi asside from the manifold and injectors. i have the ecu from the engine im using, so i imagine that will work.

Unless you are going mpfi reuse the old dx intake manifold and harness. The only item you will have a prob with is the coolant temp switch. On the older D's its on the block, the newer D's its on the t-stat housing. Cut and resolder the wires and your good to go. The dist should bolt up as im almost positive that those heads are the same. You cant use the obd1 ecu so grab a pm5 from a dx(if you dont already have one). HTH

yea, thats the way im gonna go. i dont have the downtime to wire the car and i have to get all the mpfi si stuff. im just lookin to do a no-money swap, get some more power and a fresher bottom end. later on, ill wire the car for multi port.

I have a 92-95 LX in my EF hatch, and it is just like converting to an Si. Convert your STD to MPFI, but you can stay OBD0 and use the PM6 (Si computer).

I also would recommend the 5 speed. I've never driven a Honda 4spd, but just the idea makes me queasy. Even if it is the DX tranny, if you can get a good deal, get it.

I am swapping a '92 DX motor into a 91 HF Rex (free parts). As far as I see it, I am only swapping the head and block and using all the sensors, fuel rail, and ECU from the 91. Both are MPFI. Is this correct? Are the Rex and Civic the same, as far as swaps go, from the same year model?

from what i understand, yup. and since ur car is mpfi, ur good to go for other swaps.

anyone know the differance between ef dx head and eg dx head? there is differance in hp, but i wonder if its just cause the ef had dpfi and the eg has mpfi.
