exactly. They're their own company. Other models are esprit, europa, elan, exige, etc. The lotus elise you have pictured came stock with a rover motor, the b18c5 is an aftermarket swap.

lol, rotus
as said before its Lotus and it comes with the Rover K-series engine. The B18C5 (type-r) was a swap
its not uncommon for some car makers to put other engines in thier car.
McLaren uses a 12 cyl BMW engine etc.

Does ths stock Lotus come with the honda motor? I thought I read in the SCC issue that it is a specific shop that does the swap from stock to honda motor. If indeed they come stock with the honda motor thats pretty cool to know.

You're right about the Mclaren, but NO elise came from the lotus factory with any honda motor in it. Interestingly though, rover, who supplies the engines in the elise/exige formed a european partnership with honda and some of their passenger cars accept b series swaps just like our civics here in the US.
Another fun fact, the motor in the pagani zonda is actually a mercedes.

I was editing my message as you posted yours, I looked at the scc page again and saw the mistake.
