Opinions on Royal Purple lubricants?
Of course they claim more power.
I've seen them put down more power on a somewhat built 5.0.
What do you guys think? Is it worth the extra 2 dollars a quart (hell only need 3.5 anyway) for the few more horsepower?
*May see some dyno time soon so that is why I am asking.

Note: If using pay attention to oil level.

I work for Valvoline and know, for a fact, that our VR1 race oil will beat anything else you can get ahold of. It may be cost prohibitive, but you'll notice a difference immediately after starting the car.
Royal Purple is a stigma in my book. I always hear about it burning prematurely and breaking down after moderate thrashing. I use Valvoline SynPower or Max Life depending on which vehicle, and they both do wonders.

Mobil 1 is a fantastic oil and I'd be a liar if I said otherwise
. VR1, though, is even better. The cost reflects the upgrade, but try it one time and you'll understand why

What exactly makes VR1 such a better oil. Is is the ZDDP concentration or the trace elements that have been added to it. I'm an recently graduation engineer and in doing some research have become fascinated with oils and how work and differ from eachother. I'm not looking for percentages, mostly just for information about the additives and what each does. And is the the VR1 a low detergent oil?
I've seen Royal Purple drop from over 60 feet in the air - looked pretty cool.
I don't have any personal experience with Royal Purple, but I really don't see it being worthwhile since (in my area) it's not a widely distrubted oil. I don't think I've ever seen it in a local autoparts store aside from Jeg's.
I'm running RedLine right now and will be switching to Mobile1 for convenience.
Have any dyno graphs of Royal Purple against another oil?

Look into the new German Castrol synthetic.

I have used Mobil 1 5W-30 since I have been turbocharged, 13,000 miles ago. I have never seen oil look so nice at an oil change, even with the extra heat from the turbo.
Mobil 1
When I work at Honda Performance Development on the ChampCar engines, we made a switch at one point when we started to supply engines to Penske, and started using Mobil 1, when before we would use Valvoline. Of course, we'd ship some engines dry, since they had to use their sponsor's oil. But the engines had a measured amount of secret oil addatives put in it before they shipped.
