My trunk wont open
sorry this is a little OT but my trunk wont open. my question is, is the trunk is the trunk latch mechanical or eletrical (the think you turn right to open)? i did a s2k antenna conversion and everything went well and now my trunk wont open. when i press the alarm, you can still hear my trunk lock or unlock. any ideas on how to fix it? any help will be appreciated.
its the trunk latch motor...mine did the same thing it would open with the key and I could hear it unlock with the remote but when I tried to open the trunk by hand with the latch it wouldnt...so i took it to the dealer, and said my motor went bad so they gave me a new one...U under 50,000 miles???

same thing w/my friends GSR..the latch never opened it anymore..but using a key worked everytime!

just tried the key, doesnt work. im just very fusterated right now. my dealership always gives me hard time b/c ive had about 10k is warranty service done, had to get new suspension, new tranny, new motor(whole motor) all under warranty. is the latch thingy electrical or mechanical? any other suggestions?
I'm pretty sure that the ITR trunk lock is mechanical...try removing the rear panel; there should be a cable that unlatches the trunk...try tugging on it to open the trunk...the cable may be jammed or damaged..

crawl through the back seat...
REALLY??...the trunk is not cable operated??? The latch feels like its connected to some kind of cabling system...

yes, you can hear the motor working. you hear it unlock and lock.

This is a Type R?? I wonder if the lockin mechnism is different on USDM and JDM R's...mine does not make a motor noise...it just pops the trunk when the key is turned.....
Sorry...don't mean to hijack this thread...just find it odd......maybe the trunk itself (not the lock) is stuck...I get this especially after a hot day...

Denny:
turn the key all the way to the right - turn the key and it stops and from there it should turn a little more. Once it's turned all way, lift up on the hatch at same time.
