Early this morning (9/4/03), I wake up to find my dome light flashing. I find out that my car was unlocked so I grab my keys and press the Lock button but the car won't lock, or perform any of the other functions on the remote. The batteries are brand new. Somebody help!

do you have your stock radio still installed?? 97 civic keyless entry is controlled by the factory radio.. try to reprogram the remote..

 

your dome light was flashing? and your car unlocked....

Was the dome light flashing because the door was opened at all?

If not, my guess is either your remote got fubared some how and is sending out a signal when it shouldn't be (and that'd be why it wasn't working when you'd push a button) or the keyless module in the radio and/or power lock system is messed up.

You can *TRY* to reprogram the remote.. I use to have the instructions at work, I can try to find them saturday. It involves using the button between the TAPE and CD button (on the right side of the radio, the plastic peice between the two that looks like a "seperator". It's actually a button used to program the remote to the car.
