Please help!! idle probs, car shutting off, backfiring...WTF??
I have a 97 EX turbo'd, it has a 2mm h.g., stock internals, B&M FPR, MSD 6a ign, straight thru cat, reg spark plugs gapped at 30, uumm if theres anything else I need to list then just ask.
Okay heres the dealio, As of now I am not boosting more than like 1-2 psi, due to the fact that I have taken out my mf2 mgt system and I am buying Hondata. My problems are that when I am at half throttle and putting a load on the car i.e. up a hill, the car will MAJORLY hickup and backfire, it does it a couple times. I have my ign timing at stock and my cam gear to one notch adv, to compensate for the h.g. height. I also checked my spark plugs and all of them had white tips with black bases (on the thread), my fuel pressure is set to 42psi WOT, I have stock injectors, walbro 255.
I also got a code for IAC, I am replacing that tomorrow. My other problem is that the car shuts off when its just sitting there, and then wont start back up for like another 10 minutes. I am thinking its the IAC but why wont it start back up again?
Also another prob, my oil smells like fuel...A LOT!!
What are these things??

If the engine is breaking up you might want to put another set of plugs in, they could need to be replaced.
As far as the idle is concerned, the IAC manipulates the injectors at idle based upon the vacuum conditions and adds/subtracts fuels to meet the set idle rpm. I would bet that it would be causing the problem at idle, but it shouldnt have anything to do with the mis-firing while driving.
