some time ago my friend's 95 gsr was stolen and stripped to the frame. the insurance company paid him off (rather poorly because he didn't claim for all his aftermarket parts) and was left pretty much high and dry by the police in the way they treated his case file.
just recently a colleague answered a used parts ad for integra and went to look at the stuff and 2 items came to his attention... a custom hood and spoiler that were one-off designs that my friend had made for his gsr. my friend nor myself haven't seen the parts in question, but from my colleague's description he's almost 100% certain they were from his car. it's even still in the same original color.
how should my friend approach this? i know a lot of people say they'll show up with their biggest friends with baseball bats blah blah blah, but who actually does that? my friend still has a great deal of animosity towards the police, but he dosen't want to let these guys get away.
what should he do?

go to the police. its not worth getting into a brawl, or gun/knife fight?? with the theives. and go check out the parts before hand too......
i agree. go to the police and tell them you have a good idea of who the thieves are because you recognized your special parts...
not worth getting into trouble by confronting them yourself

Ben,
How about letting us know where the parts were advertised, as this may help others avoid dealing with that individual and possibly getting taken or mixed up with stolen goods. Good luck.

in Texas, even if you didn't steal the part, it is felony theft by appropreation(sp?) to evenhave a stolen part in your possesion or on your property(same thing in Texas)... try convincing a Texas judge/jury that you really didn't know it was stolen... I don't know what it is like there, but call the po-po... if they didn't do the stealing, they'll snitch who did...
