Default Ti Retainers?

I'm looking at getting a set of cams for my itr motor. Either a set of Toda Spec B's or the Skunk 2 Stage 2's. Just wondering if i should get the Ti retainers?

I've heard varying opinions on them. Will the stock retainers do fine?

The car is a race car and i rev to 9000rpm limit.

im gonna post some pics possibly sunday. I just found out one of my JUN titanium retainers fugged on me. My car was going through some downtime with a messed up distributor but i just got a new one and the night i got on the car, i tried to start it and it felt lumpy for some reason. I removed the valve cover BAM! one fugged intake valve retainer on Cylinder Number 2. The outside rim of the retainer is gone and the remainder of the retainer is still holding the valve up but only pressed against the inner valve springs ( JUN too). WTF?? I got one outer spring that i just pulled out and one inner one thats locked. Im thinking about slapping the stock ones back in but don't wanna go through the hassle. Im thinking about just slapping one stock retainer for the one i need. I do'nt have a valve spring compressor and i spent the rest of the night ripping the cams out. ****~!~!~!~!~!

Look for a post, imma get some pics for you guys to look at.

THE VERDICT - **** TITANIUM RETAINERS.

PS - they might make your valvetrain lighter but ****, i don't the difference is felt. Its just more stable at 10k revs and up ( whoopdee doo ). I think having valve springs that can handle revs is more important than shitty retainers

I've put about 5K miles on mine so far, I'll be checking for any galling at 10K miles.

i remember something about getting them coated. I think Swain Tech. coats engine parts. I know SCC used Swain Tech. coatings on their engine internals in their monster 300ZX buildup. Those were antifriction and heat coatings but im sure they've got something to make them harder. What exactly does the coating do for the retainer. Im thinking that the stock one's handle 9k perfectly fine ( JDM ECU's fuel cut out at 9,100rpm ). I honestly think titanium retainers are a waste of money. They're just lightened for high RPM stability but the stock ones are heavy enough to keep everything in check. Most cams don't really make power up that high and in most cases, your rev's will only need to be extended to about 9500rpm to extract the most outta your cams and valve springs keep the valves in check so they won't float. I don't think the retainers need to be checked.

I do'nt know what to do now, i need one titanium retainer. I Have 3 options now, whatcha guys think? I can try to find ONE titanium retainer or i can switch all of them back to stock. That means i would have wasted my money on the retainers.
Or i can slap one stock one in there and let it be.

HELP~!
