What plastic cover? Im not talking about taking the mirror off itself, im talking about taking the mirror glass kinda part out from the inside of the mirror itself. Sorry if i dont know how to do this, not like i take it out everyday for fun!

I don't beleive the internals are removable. I had to just tape the mirror off ewhen I did mine.

Do a search. It seems like I just answered this question a few weeks ago..
but anyway.. put a phillips (+) head screwdriver into the hole at the bottom of the mirror housing.. loosen the screw.. use a standard (-) head screwdriver, wrap a rag around it (to keep from ******* up the plastic on the mirror body and holder for the glass) and pop the glass holder out of the body of the mirror.
or something like that.
