Sadly enough , 96 DX gears feel like pooh compared to 92-95 Dx gears.

both trannies are about the same....VX and CX....I believe the cx has a diff 5th I forget....but **** the DX is an upgrade compared to the VX/DX but I'd go for an EX if your looking to swap out trannies..

NO.

The CX/DX/LX trannies are the same but the HX is just stupid tall. Mainly it is the final drive that sucks.

The HX is pretty much a EX tranny with a very tall Final drive.

It took me forever with 92 hp, but now I have more then double that....1st to 40mph @6k now to 60mph @9k Remember 2nd gear till 60mph with your old VX tranny, now it would be till 90mph...I'm pretty sure my gas mileage would go up also!

That is where you are wrong.....maybe.
In my HX I got 29 mpg on the freeway, I always needed to grap a lower gear to pass.
In my EX I got 31 mpg on the freeway, I didn't have to grab a lower gear and I was at higher RPMs the entire time due to the shorter gears.

I feel that the lower gears help acceleration so that you don't feel the need to grab a lower gear and go WOT all the time.

Danm those Hx's suck in the Gasmileage department! My old VX engine would get me 40+mpg just driving back and forth to work, but when I drove around the country I got over 50mpg in the midwest!

Also keep in mind my HP is more then double my old Vx's engines 0utput so grabbing a lower gear to pass wouldn't always apply..

the sohc vtec tranny in stock form is no better then a LS, thats our problem

I have a 95 sohc vtec tranny and a SRR 4.9 final drive, but my lazy *** has sat on them both for at least 6 months.LOL.

I liked WOT. Intakes make you like the sound.
I agree you have more power, however, never ever ever give up your shorter gears.
The money spent on gas is worth the acceleration you have when you want it.

I would think I would just be a 2 or 3 gear car if I was to race it.......The old VX engine pulled pretty good till 3rd gear... So if I could hit 60mph in 2nd before and now I can hit 90 in 2nd I would save time/energy by only have on shift in there where as @ 90mph now(with the b18c Y80 tranny) I am shifting into 4th gear.. Does that make sense?

Yup. Shorter gears.

Just to put in comparision. HX_Guy swapped his HX tranny for a EX tranny and went an entire second faster in the 1/4 mile.

How so?
Your going to take the same engine (HX/GSR whatever) and go from a shorter geared one to a longer geared one.

He just went from Longer geared to shorter.
