help, car won't start
okay today i was changing the cap and rotor and everything was fine at first den when i went to go start it agian i wouldn't start anymore. I found that the plugs arn't firing so any ideas? Would i need a new distrubtor or is it just the igniter or coil???
Well if the spark plugs or wirings arent "firing" as you say meaning there is no spark, then I would make sure you put in the rotor and cap correctly. See if there is a spark coming from the cap when you take off each wiring from the cap...make the gap abt half an inch so you can see if there is any spark jumping that gap. If there is not, then check your install of the rotor and cap as I said. But I dont understand why you were gettin spark before you removed the cap and rotor and now you arent. Its really a simple removal and replace job.
I don't know. This is a little wierd. The only problem I could think of would be water or moisture maybe. Try putting the old one back on and see if it starts then.
I tried test each wire to see if there was any spark and there isn't, after i installed everything the car would start up and run fine so the firing order is right, it was only when i tried to restart it to repark my car in the garage when it wouldn't start, all it did was crank.
I have absolutely no idea what that could be. Ignition Control Module died... I have had two fail in the past, but it was always while driving. It may also be a dead ignition coil. Hopefully you have a repair manual. Diagnosing ignition problems will also require a multimeter to check voltages. Pull off the distributor cap first. Hopefully a wire came loose. I believe that the ignition module on integras are under the distributor cap.
