i've used techron and stp with fine results.

how often do you guys use this stuff? the bottles say every 3000 miles; i generally use it every 6000-10,000 miles for no other reason than i don't remember to buy it. are our injectors prone to clogging?

 

Ive used a couple before...STP, Generic Pep Boys stuff, Chevron...it all seems the same to me. Who knows if it does anything. We know it wont efficiently clean them, but how effective is this stuff in keeping your injectors healthy?

Also, common sense dictates that if it works with a full tank, it will be more concentrated on a half tank and therefore work better. Is there any downside to adding it to a smaller quantity of gas?

 

I have heard from a smog referee that you should avoid using these products more than maybe once a year. He told me that they aren't too good for the O2 sensors and cat.

I'm gonna try that BG44K stuff, my friend at an Infinity dealership gave some to me and says that charge $50 for this stuuff as an "fuel injector treatment service".

could anything be damaged from using injector cleaner? like seals or whatever else?

I've heard its a good thing to replace your fuel filter after using these producrts cuz all that gunk gets "filtered" which sounds pretty reasonable....

I only use chevron gas, and I drump in STP stuff every 5-6 tanks of gas.....

hmm.. i would rather send them to be re-calibrated and cleaned by rc or something instead of using injector cleaner..

I read Motul's cleaner is suppose to be good.

To my knowledge it's licensed to Chevron by BG products, BG sells the same thing as 44K, but it has a much higher concentration, around 100X more, and it works damn good. Best cleaner that I've found out there...and i'm lucky that a salesman lives right across the street from me

I used the BG44K in the past. I heard to use the fuel injector cleaner stuff just before an oil change.

 

Yeah this is the stuff in case if anybody is wondering...



I'm gonna use it on my 120,000K Camry and see if it helps.

 

I use STP on other cars and it doesn't seem to make a difference. If it really does do anything, I'm sure it won't enough to notice it.
