I just got the apex N1 at a great deal. 330 shipped brand new, but I think it was the last one at that shop. Well, I love the exhuast, but the muffler is too large(115mm) for my taste. Also, it is way too loud for my taste also. Just installed it a couple days ago.
Wow, nice setup mintydip, I see you have those new goodies in place. Too loud? Why didnt you research
, a lot of people said that the N1 was too loud, but I guess for the right price it was a good move to buy it. It looks good on the car IMO.
Ok now to answer your question thaigsrdrv16, if I were you and had $600 to spend on a catback I would personally go with the Comptech unit. This is the one I plan on purchasing and have done all my research on. Everyone compliments its sound as well as its discrete looks. It all depends on how loud you want your exhaust. If you would like it loud there are plenty of other manufacturers that sell loud units. Although if you would like your exhaust to be rather quiet while just cruising and roaring at WOT, then the Comptech is your best bet. By all means dont think that this is the only exhaust that can produce a good sound and still be quiet during regular driving. Comptech is expensive so if you dont want to spend all of your 600 then look into the Greddy Evo, another nice exhaust.
PS
The price on Comptech's website is really high, and i'm sure you will have no trouble finding one for roughly 550 or even less if you get a good deal.

kanji: i couldnt resist the deal. Im not a fan of loud exhuast either, but hey, nothing beats a great flowing exhuast with a great name for 330 shipped

Well as for my thoughts...
The Greddys are very quiet and smooth. I had one.
The Tanable Hyper is a larger N1 style can, and its loud!
The Tanable Medallion (the quiet one as the Greddy is) is supposed to even a lil quieter than the Greddy.
The HKS Hiper is a N1 style canister, and in terms of volume in between the Tanabe Hyper and the Greddy. This is the one I currently have. I personally love the sound and look.
I have no personal experience with the comptech, but Im sure the quality and performance is on par with the Japanese manufacterers. No sure abt the sound volumes either.
I believe all the exhs are a good choice and its just upto personal preference.

I have a Comptech cat back exhaust and it is awesome! I would not go with anyone else. Comptech makes parts exclusively for honda/acura! That's why you will not void your factory warranty with their parts. The exhaust bolts on in the factory locations, so no problems with fit! It took me less than an hour to remove my old cat back and install the new one! Plus they have a lifetime warranty! I saw and felt more power immediately! Plus the sound is throaty, not a whine, or a lawnmower on crack. Check it out at http://www.comptechusa.com/ Just my 2 cents though.

Something to think about: People have complained that their Greddy catbacks rust through time. I assume these are people that are around a lot of roadsalt..
Sorry to correct you Comtech Only has a 1 Year Warrenty Agaist Manufactor Defects I Own one and i have my paperwork with me, i agree it sounds very good very well contructed piece of exhaust. all the reneforcements etc. personality the only reason i bought it is that i work for acura and i got it for 340 dollars but i believe exhaust is a waste of money.

>>Are you talking about Tanabe's Racing Medallion??? YOu are focking crazy! It's loud..very loud..
all (4?) of tanabe's exhausts are actually called medalion: hyper, racing, g-power and dtm. if someone says simply "medalion" they are often referring to the "g-power" one which i would say is somewhat similar the the greddy sp.
